Chapter 17: Forming a team

"You're quite strong, Kirishima-san"

Takashi commented as Hiroto easily carried a large box of paper to the door. While Takashi placed the smaller one on top of it to add some weight to their barricade. To prevent any zombies from getting into a faculty room while they are resting.

"Do you think it will hold?"

He asked as he patted the barricade made from heavy boxes of paper and equipment on the door. Making Hiroto nod his head in response.

"Even if it didn't hold, it would take them some time before crossing all of this. At least were safe for now..."

He said before glancing at the rest of their group. Sitting down on the chairs with an exhausted expression on their faces.

"Let's stay here and get some rest, we can't continue if you're all exhausted"

He said as he sat down on the empty chair next to a teacher's table. Leaning his back on the chair before crossing his arms in front of him. Even though his skills helped improve this body for a bit, it still lacked stamina just like before. That's why he felt a bit of fatigue on his body due to his constant movements.

'... Why did I retain my physical appearance at my previous dimension?'

Hiroto thought as he held his stomach. Feeling that his body was as tone and muscular than, but his stamina doesn't match his physical appearance. Making him frown before Saeko threw a water bottle at his direction.

"Thanks"

He said as he caught the water bottle with his hand. Making Saeko smile at his direction.

"Did you find the keys?"

Hiroto asked as he drank water. Looking at Shizuka who was looking through the drawers of the faculty room before she took out a key to the bus that clubs uses for their off-campus activities.

"I found it but... where should we go?"

She asked while looking at Hiroto, causing him to glance at their entire team with a serious expression on his face.

"Find a safe place to stay... What do you all want to do before that? We can go visit your families if you want to since we will still need to gather supplies"

He said as Takashi sat down on the floor while Rei passed him a water bottle.

"Let's do that. We'll stop by everyone's home starting from the nearest one to the farthest... We'll rescue them if we can"

Takashi said causing Hiroto to nod his head in response. While Rei was staring at the TV with a look of terror and shock in her eyes. Making Takagi look at her direction with a frown on her face.

"What's wrong?"

She asked but was ignored by Rei who stared at the screen with trembling pupils.

"What the hell is this..."

She whispered, causing Saeko to grab the remote from the desk and increased the volume of the tv. Making all of them move closer to watch and hear the news.

"What's wrong Rei?"

Takashi asked as he walked closer to her while Hiroto stood beside Saeko with a serious expression on his face.

"... The number of deaths in the Saitama Prefecture has already exceeded 10,000. The prefectural governor has declared a state of emergency-"

The news reported said before the sound of gunshot was heard behind her.

"T-That's a gunfire!! The police has now started to open gunfire! B-But what are they shooting at..."

She said in a panicked voice as the corpses being transported to the ambulance suddenly started rising up. Making the police open fire and shoot them on the head.
