Chapter 25: Saving Alice

"Hiroto?"

Saeko called as Hiroto searched around the fridge for a drink. Making him crouch down as he read through the unfamiliar brands of drinks in front of him.

"Yeah?"

Hiroto asked as he grabbed a canned coffee from the fridge. Pulling its tab to open the can before he closed the door of the fridge. Drinking the cold coffee before he glanced at Saeko.

"Our midnight snack would be ready soon"

She said as Hiroto choked on his drink due to shock when he saw her appearance. Staring at Saeko who was wearing nothing but an apron and a thin panty that barely hid her body.

"Hmm? Do you like what you see, Hiroto?"

Saeko said as she looked at his flustered appearance with a smile. Placing the ladle in her hand on her lips while Hiroto stared at her without blinking. Making her giggle before she stirred the stew that she was cooking.

"It's rude to stare like that at a girl Hiroto"

She said, causing Hiroto to awkwardly cough before walking closer to her direction. Trying to prevent his eyes from drifting on her exposed back.

"What are you cooking?"

"We only had ingredients to cook stew. Do you want to have a taste?"

She asked as she scooped a small piece of vegetable and soup from the pot using a spoon. Bringing it closer to Hiroto who stood behind her and crouched down. Opening his mouth and took a taste of the stew that she cooked.

"It's good"

He said. Making Saeko smile in response as she continued to stir the stew on the pot. Waiting until the vegetables is fully cooked.

"That's good. There were a lot of missing ingredients so I was a bit unsure of how would it taste"

She said before she looked towards her side. Looking at the side of his face with a gentle smile on her face.

"I'm a bit surprised that you could cook this well"

He said before she turned off the fire and covered the pot with a lid. Making her turn around to look at Hiroto who was leaning against the kitchen counter using both of his hands. Trapping Saeko inside as she stared at him directly in the eye.

"Hmm... I never knew that you were this aggressive"

"S-Sorry, I did mean-"

"It's alright"

She cut him off with a light smile on her face as Hiroto to quickly move away in a panic, but was caught off guard as Saeko suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck. Trapping him in place as their faces almost touching each other.

"It's not that I mind..."

"..."

Hiroto stayed silent as he stared at her eyes. Making Saeko shy as she felt the cold wind brush through her half-naked body.

"I'm honestly surprised, Hiroto"

She whispered, causing Hiroto to look at her in confusion.

"I never imagined that I'll meet another person that is a bit similar to me..."

"... Similar to you?"

"Yes... We're both monsters after all... People who enjoy inflicting pain to others... Aren't you like that too, Hiroto?"

She asked, causing Hiroto to sigh in response before remembering the continuous quest that the system kept on bugging him to complete. Making him look at Saeko's direction with a smile on his face.
