I know I haven't followed the updating schedule and I probably won't start using it until next Sunday. I have dance competitions on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday coming up so I'm really busy and I need to focus on dance right now! There will be another week where I have competition in another city so I'll warn you when those come up! I'm sorry I won't be updating much during the next month but I will do as much as I can. Deal?
Thanks, my apologies! -Rhea
I guess you could say that I am the loner at my school. No, scratch that... I am definitely the loner at my school.
My name is Cody Romeste and I am a girl by the way! I just have a boy's name... I am not unpopular because I am ugly, no that's not the case at all. I have long, wavy, golden hair that reaches my hips and dark brown eyes. I have a lean build and have never had acne or any scars, or anything like that. There are three main reasons why people don't like me... The first is because I have a small case of ADHD. I do not have it nearly as bad as some kids, but I am the only one with it in my high school. And since I am a freshman, I get judged even more harshly. The second is because I simply like being by myself, other kids talk and gossip and that's pretty much it. I spend most of my day reading, and I know most kids with ADHD would want to do more active things but even though I do yoga, football, swimming and take an hour run every day, I really enjoy reading. My life is incredibly boring, I have friends at football but no one that I actually hang out with on my own time. Books are friends (not that I'd be able to concentrate enough to read them without my meds)!
Yah, I take meds to help me deal with my ADHD, deal with it. It was actually dads idea in the first place, I never met my mom... Well except for when I was four. I remember it being my birthday, and she knocked in my door. I was only turning four years old but I somehow knew it was my mom who came to visit. Dad was in the kitchen and hadn't heard the knocking. When I opened the door, all I remember is my mother hugging me and kissing me on the forehead, her gently placing a box in my hands and telling me that she loves me and that I would make her proud someday. Then she looked me in the eyes, her hands resting on my shoulders, and turned away, running down the street and disappearing from view.
In the box had been a little cake, but when I took it out there still seemed to be weight in the box. I can't really explain it, you'd think I'm crazy! My dad must have thought I was crazy after bringing a cake in the house. I can't exactly remember what excuse I came up with, that was ten years ago, but knowing how little kids think... It was probably something along the lines of "Rainbow Dash gave it to me!"
My dad and I had shared it and it was the best birthday cake I have ever eaten to this day. The box still has a small weight in it, maybe five more pounds than it should weigh. It got heavier when we went to New York one day though, it weighed more like twenty pounds! I've never really thought about it much though, it's not very important and I take it everywhere anyway!
There. Done! I take my pencil away from the paper. A rough but detailed sketch of a wreath stands out on the blank page. Not the kind you would use for thanksgiving, though. Like one that someone would wear on their head, small and elegant leaves decorate the wreath, I don't know what it is, but I do know that it's important... Somehow! I sigh and flip through the pages of my notebook, reviewing countless drawings of knives, swords and weird symbols, in a language that I do not know.
Yep, that's the third reason no one likes me. I have an obsession over weapons. I never use them though, it's not like I think it's a good idea and I don't have a clue how to use them!
Geez. Some people may think that sketching is boring but let me tell you, it is far more entertaining that sitting through an hour long history class!

When I get home, I can immediately tell that something's wrong. Dad isn't home, he should be home. I run to the phone and see that there is an unread message from earlier today. I press play and sigh with relief when the sound of my father's voice comes up the speaker.
"Hey Cody! I'm really sorry hon, I got a call this morning after you left for school and I have to head up to D.C for a few weeks! I really wish that I could have stayed home but something extremely important came up for the company and I had no choice but to go. I left my credit card on the table for you to buy food and anything else you need. Give me a cell when you get home! Talk to you then, bye."
The message finishes playing and I flop down on the couch. This is a big relief, dad may be gone for a few weeks but this had happened a few times before so I know what to do. At least he's safe. I dial my dad's cell number and raise the phone to my ear just as it starts to ring. After it rings twice, my dad answers.
"Hello?" He asks.
"Dad!" I exclaim a little too enthusiastically.
"Woah, is everything all right?" He questions with a concerned tone to his voice. "I did leave my credit card, right?" He asks and I nod, it's kind of stupid because he can't see me. Oh well!
"Yeah, dad everything is fine! Thanks for leaving a message. When are you getting home?" I ask and I can hear him sigh.
"It's the sixteenth, correct?" He asks and I nod again. "Mmhmm!"
"Then I guess that I'm back on the... Fifth! I'm gone for twenty days, I'm really sorry Coby..." He says and I shake my head, completely aware that he can't see me!
"No, really it's okay dad! I'll see you then! Love you!" I say and he says four more words before I hang up.
"Love you too, bye."

It's been five days since dad left, well if you count the day he left. Anyways it's the twentieth today, my school year ended yesterday. Nothing too exciting happened, besides the event of Hilary and Dustin (the schools "main" couple) snogging in the parking lot before we all left. I guess those two are okay, I've beer really talked to them before, besides when Hilary was my partner for a science project. We never really talked about anything else but our project though.
But today, everything is about to change...
I enter my dad and I's house and set my Jugo Juice down on the table in the main entrance. Right beside the box my mom gave me on my birthday. I run up to my room to see that my room is not the way that I left it. A few of my sheets have been tossed around and there is a claw mark on one of the selfie a I had taken and posted on my bulletin board! All the blood drains from my face as I throw my blankets back on my bed and grab the torn up picture from its place on the wall. With it I grab my phone, wallet, a clean pair of shorts and a t-shirt. I run down the stairs and grab a bag, throwing the items in it and adding my mother's box and running out the door, locking it behind me...
But not before snatching my Jugo Juice!
The street that I live on is fairly busy, well actually it's extremely busy. Not a quiet neighbourhood! Shops are just around the corner and the closest mall is a block away! A four way stop is just a few houses down... I'm running down the street, not knowing where I am going but having the knowledge that if I stay in place for too long, I'll be put in danger.
Bam!
I am thrown backwards onto the ground and I look up to see a girl in the same position as I am, just a few feet away. The girl has brown hair and eyes, and is glaring daggers at me. We both get up but suddenly, a blood chilling screech fills the air and we both cover our ears. Just down the street stands a horrible woman with snakes for hair.
"Who is..." I trail off and the girl looks at me, surprised. I hear her mumble a few words to herself but she does answer my question afterwards.
"Euryale, one of the gorgon sisters, her scream can literally kill." She says and pulls a spear out of no where before charging at the horrid creature. She fights the monster with skill and grace and within a few minutes, it disappears with a poof of golden dust. My instincts tell me to follow the mysterious girl so I run and catch up with her. She gives me a side glance and says to herself.
"Yep. You are definitely a half-blood! It's to dangerous in the city right now, you'll never survive..." And then she looks me directly in the eyes, as we're running. She talks a little louder, her voice serious and clear.
"My name is Clarisse by the way, and I'm taking you to camp, right now!"
To be continued... Otherwise this would be an extremely long chappy! This goes to fantasyfan38! Thanks for the amazing OC! I'm really enjoying writing this!!!!
