In the bus in direction to the forest :

The five of them are sitted with the princess near and keeping an eye on the princes who are just barely a few meters away from them.

They couldn't help the shiver that went down their spine at the malicious energy the cursed individuals spread. They did their best to cover their uncomfort by chatting with each others.

And so as all of them turned to their seat mates, Yeonjun found himself glancing at you. He was the one who managed to get a sit beside you after all. He absolutely didn't threaten his friends of playing off key flute notes for the rest of the day and night if they didn't let him sit beside you. Of course he did not, how silly and immature is this?

Yeonjun can be silly and immature.

And so he found himself gazing at you and taking in your smile. Even though he is the one of the bunch who is the least familiar with you, he has to admit he immediately fell in love with you when he interacted with you for the first time.

Watching and actually interacting are so different. And he only understood it when it happened to him. From his experience with children, he was one of the most protective of you when you were still a child. Sure when you were an infant he never interacted with you but he made sure to watch over you.

Each boys had a guard and patrol time back then, obviously this changed when Yuki died. They had to be stealthy to not get caught but still close enough to scoop you away at the first sign of danger (or creepy princes). Although they never had to save you (fortunately), there was a nostalgic warmth at the thought of just being beside you, like all this time.

Thinking about it, the five of them all have some sort of ties or bond with children;
Yeonjun kidnapped all the children of a town for "their own good", away from the town into the wood (it sounds like he murdered them)

Soobin is a fairy Godfather who watched over the princess since she was a child and made sure she was happy. (He did a shit job at it)

Beomgyu literally raised a little girl, even if it took a sharp turn at some point. ( An overprotective and possessive man)

Taehyun took the princess as his stepdaughter and sorta gave her fatherly love before becoming jealous and wanting to kill her. (He wasn't ready to be a father)

As for Kai, his story said that he was married and had children himself who seemingly were happy. As it can be read in his book Chapter 8 line 42 " there were 10 of them, and the little cherubs frolicked happily." (He was a good & loving father)

But enough of this, the man snapped out of his thoughts as he felt the girl slightly tug at his sleeve. Turning his head to see her, she was looking up at him with curious eyes and lips in a slight pout. How much does he want to dive in to kiss her-

" Yeonjun ? "

Yeah maybe not right now, he need to control his urges. And it wouldn't be wise as there was the ennemis near and he was also sure his friends would beat him up to the ground.

Why?

The answer is quite simple. The Pied Piper saw how Kai made sure to control his temper and energy around her, how Beomgyu hands would linger in her hair and play with some strands as he loses himself in her eyes or how Taehyun would noticeably be nicer and watch his mouth and movement around her as if repressing primal urges.

He would almost have missed Soobin if the man hadn't slipped once, well it was more of a big ass slip as he found the leader's diary. And let's just say the words he saw on the papers told and taught him a lot of things even him could ever think of.

Anyway, the thing was that they were all love rivals in the course to the Princess heart. Each one of them probably already thinking how to ask her to come back to their respective story. He could laugh at how all of them are oblivious of each others, but he couldn't blame them. There was no time to think about it when they had to stay on edge everyday with the princes.

For the time being they will cooperate and work as a team to protect you. But once that's done, it's everyone for themselves and pulling tricks to sabotage each others like the villains they are. Being the good guys can only go for so long.

He smiles as he ruffle the girl's hair and chuckles at the offended gasp that left her mouth. He was sure that one thing will never change...

"Don't worry I will always watch over you."

This is another intermission, but you should know that already don't you?

Anyway so next chapter we will get Y/n jopping in the book with fucking Namjoon chasing after her. But poor Y/n will be alone inside with no friends to help her.

What do you mean I'm suspicious as fuck?
Just because I'm the author doesn't mean I can't show worry for my characters despite already the plot and how this will end.
