"Fuck!" I curse as I grab my books and get ready for class.

It's Friday and that means Tessa will be going out with Zed tonight. If that's not bad enough, she'll also be waiting for me in class today to invite me on a double date with them tonight.

She's always trying to set me up with one of her available friends. Of course, I always make up some excuse not to go. I've used every excuse in the book. Literally. One time I couldn't think of anything else, so I actually told her I had to wash my hair. I don't think she bought it, though.

"Well, let's get this over with," I groan and leave for class.

When I get to Literature class, Tessa is already sitting and waiting for me. She notices me and waves, giving me the biggest and brightest smile I have ever seen. I give her a small wave and head for my seat next to her.

"Hey, Hardin," she chirps.

"Hey, Tess. You look happy today."

"I am." She smiles. "I wanted to invite you out tonight with Zed and me. I really want you to meet my friend, too."

"Friend?" I ask.

"Yeah, you remember. I told you my friend Emma from yoga class is dying to meet you."

"Oh, yeah," I say as I roll my eyes.

"Hardin," she says in a stern voice.

"Tessa," I fire back.

"She's a really nice girl. You guys actually have a lot in common. She's a lot like me, too, so I figured if you like me, you'd like her, too," she laughs.

Love. I love you, I want to correct her.

"Tessa, I..." I can't think of a damn excuse and she's just sitting there looking up at me with hopeful eyes.

"You... would love to go?" she giggles.

"Fine, fuck, I'll go," I groan.

She claps and jumps up and down in her chair. "Great! I knew I'd wear you down," she says, looking quite pleased with herself.

"So, how badly is this date going to blow?" I roll my eyes.

"It's not going to blow," she says, giving me a hateful glare. "We're only going to dinner and a movie, you think you can handle that? You won't even have to dress up. Besides, Emma has a thing for that bad boy look." She winks.

"Lucky me," I say flatly.

"You know, it wouldn't kill you to be a little happy about going on a double date with us. You never get out anymore," she states.

Yes, kill me. Having to watch Zed feed her fries with no ketchup all night and watch as he wraps his arm around her shoulders and whispers in her ear throughout the whole movie will certainly kill me.

"I'm perfectly happy not going on dates with chicks that you met at yoga class."

"Hardin, please!" she begs. "I just want to see you as happy as Zed and I are."

I have to keep myself from throwing up on the poor kid sitting in front of me.

"Just give Emma a chance before you give up on dating, okay?"

"Okay. So, where are we going for dinner?" I ask.

"We're just going to keep it casual. We'll meet you at Blind Bob's at 6 and the movie is at 8," she says with excitement in her voice.

"Okay, I'll be there." This is going to be one long ass night.
