I'm so anxious about Tessa, that when I realize I'm within blocks of our apartment, I feel like I can finally breathe again.

I leave my bags in the car and rush upstairs to the apartment. I quickly unlock the door and glance around the apartment. It's really late and it's dark in here. I turn the light on, but I don't see Tessa. I make a beeline to the bedroom and my heart starts beating again when I see Tessa is fast asleep in bed.

I'm about to wake her up, so I can lecture her, when I notice something. There is an empty wine bottle on the nightstand. Did Tessa drink that?! She's not asleep. She's passed out drunk. "Fuck, Tessa! Why would you drink so much?" I desperately try to wake her. "Tess? Tessa? Please, wake up, baby!"

She finally starts to wiggle in the bed and my heart starts beating again, for the second time tonight.

"Tessa? Can you hear me?"

"Hardin?" she asks groggily.

"Yes, Tess, I'm here."

"Is it Sunday night already?"

"No, Tess, but you wouldn't answer your damn phone, so I had to drive home to make sure you were okay."

I hear her mutter something I can't quite make out.

"Are you okay? Why did you drink so much?"

"They're going to make me see him again."

"Who? Who do you have to see again?"

"I can't, Hardin. That's why I drank so much. It helped me forget."

"Forget what, Tessa?"

"Him."

"Tess, you're not making any sense."

"Hold me?"

"Come here, baby." I hold Tessa while she continues to mutter nonsense. I gently rub her back until I hear her start to quietly snore.

I have no idea what happened today, but I have a terrible feeling about it. And since Tessa decided to start drinking, I'm just going to have to wait until morning to find out what's got her so upset.

Who the fuck is 'him'? Is Zed back? I swear if that bastard came anywhere near her... Maybe fucking Noah made another pass at her. There sure are a lot of assholes that insist on making our lives a living Hell.

"Tess, baby, what has you so upset?" I whisper as I twirl her soft blonde locks around my finger.

I continue to watch Tessa sleep. It's the only thing that brings me peace in this moment. Eventually, I drift off to sleep, too.
