"Are you ready to go?" I ask Hardin

"Are you ready to go?" I ask Hardin.

"Are you sure there's no way I can talk you out of this?"

"Nope!"

"Then I guess I'm ready." He sighs.

"Oh, cheer up. It'll be fun!"

"At least you look cute in your hat and scarf," he says as he pokes my nose.

"Hardin!" I giggle.

Hardin and I drive to the outdoor skating rink, and despite Hardin's mood, I'm really excited.

"Okay, Tess, we're here." He sighs.

"Hardin, what's the big deal about skating?"

"I... um... I don't know how to skate," he mumbles.

"Are you serious?" I gasp.

He turns to look at the steering wheel and nods.

"Oh. Well, that's okay. There's no reason to be embarrassed. We don't have to go if you don't want to."

"Really?"

"Yeah. It's fine. I just kind of miss skating. I haven't been in years. I used to go with Noah all the time-"

"We're going," he growls.

"What?"

"If a jackass like that can skate, then so can I."

I can't help but giggle. "Your jealousy is finally paying off." I grin.

"I'm not jealous."

"Okay, whatever you say!" I tease and we both get out of the car.

"So, what do we do first?"

"We rent skates!"

"Okay. That sounds simple enough."

I go rent skates for us, then we both put them on. Hardin takes twice as long to finish putting them on.

"That was not fucking simple," he groans.

"It was amusing to watch, though!" I giggle.

"You know, there's still time to do something else. You know, something I'm actually good at."

"Like what?" I ask and instantly regret it.

"F-" I quickly cover Hardin's mouth with my gloved hand before the families around us can hear.

"I can't take you anywhere!" I blush and Hardin laughs.

"Okay, let's get this shit over with." He sighs.

"If you're going to be grumpy, I'll just leave you to skate on your own!"

"I'll be good." He reaches for my hand.

I help Hardin onto the ice and for the first few minutes it goes well. "See? It's not so bad!" I smile.

"Yeah, I guess you're ri-" Hardin begins to say before falling on his butt.

"Hardin! Are you okay?"

"Yeah," he groans as I help him back up.

"Did you want me to get you a walker?" I ask while helping him steady himself.

He looks at a young girl using a walker while passing us, then back to me. "Fuck no!"

We start to skate again and a few minutes later Hardin falls again, this time taking me down with him. While he lies on the ice, I'm lying on top of him, giggling uncontrollably.

"You know, Tess, we could have just done this at home, preferably without the audience." He smirks.

"Hardin!" I playfully hit him before getting back up. "Come on." I reach for his hand, helping him up. "I guess skating just isn't our thing."

"Sorry, Tess," he apologizes while looking sad.

"It's okay. I love you for trying." I give him a big hug.

He wraps his arms around me and kisses the top of my head. "At least you still look cute." He smiles.

"And I have something to tease you about forever." I giggle.

I help Hardin off the ice, return our skates and then we go over to a concession stand. Hardin orders us two funnel cakes and two hot chocolates.

"Thank you!" I say before grabbing my hot chocolate and looking into the mug. "You got me extra marshmallows!" I smile brightly at him.

"I know how much you love your marshmallows." He chuckles.

I watch as Hardin takes a sip of his hot chocolate, then start to laugh.

"What?" he asks cluelessly.

"You have some whipped cream on your nose!" I giggle.

"I'm glad you're having so much fun at my expense, baby." He lightly chuckles.

I finish my funnel cake and then start to pick at Hardin's.

"You just ate a whole cake!" he says while lifting his out of my reach.

"I don't care!" I giggle and stand on my tip toes to try and reach his cake.

"No wonder you always have so much energy. I think you're eating too much sugar." He laughs. Hardin shoves the last of his cake into his mouth before I can grab it for myself. "All gone!" he mumbles with his mouth full.

"Hardin! You're getting powdered sugar everywhere!" I giggle.

Hardin takes his fingers that are covered with powdered sugar and begins to wipe them on my face.

"Stop it! Hardin! Stop!" I laugh while trying to fight him off.

"Are you ready to go yet?" He laughs.

"Yes! I need to wash this off now!"

"Well, don't steal my food!" He laughs and then kisses my nose.

"It's only fair. You stole my heart!" I say and smile at my cheesy remark.

"And you're never getting it back!" he says before kissing me.
