It's already been a week since my amazing New Year's Eve with Tessa. We've already gone back to school, but now it's the weekend, and our four month anniversary.
I wake up to Tessa's side of the bed being empty. Before I go searching for her, I take a moment to think how grateful I am to be starting this new year off right. Tessa is my fiancée and if I have anything to say about it, hopefully we'll be married before the end of this year.
I reluctantly get out of bed, wishing Tessa would have slept in, so I could have woke her up my favourite way. I leave the bedroom and find her sitting on the couch reading, with a cup of coffee sitting on the table next to it.
"I see someone's finally up." Tessa giggles.
"It's called sleeping in. You should try it some time." I chuckle as I make my way over to her and sit down next to her.
"My grumpy Hardin," she says as she fixes my messy morning hair.
"Do you know what today is, baby?"
"Um... I have no clue!"
"Tessa!" I scold.
"I'm only joking. Happy four months!" She giggles and kisses me on the cheek.
"That's not funny, Theresa. I think you owe me a kiss on the lips for that little stunt."
Tessa gives me a quick peck on the lips.
"Oh, I know you can do better than that!"
"Hardin! I'm trying to read!" She laughs.
"Fine. I guess that will have to do." I sigh.
"I can tell I'm not going to get anymore reading done..." she says playfully before closing her book and placing it on the table. "So, do you have anything special planned for our anniversary?"
"Nope."
"You don't?" She raises an eyebrow at me.
"Not a thing." I shrug.
"Are you sure? I know how you like to surprise me."
"I'm serious. After everything that happened over the holidays, first with Emma and Dan, then with Nate and Zed, I just want to spend our anniversary at home, just the two of us."
"So, you didn't make any plans?"
"Well, I might have one thing planned..." I say as I nuzzle into her neck.
"And what's that?" She giggles.
"You've spent four months with me and you still don't know? I don't think you're paying much attention, Theresa," I joke and then start to kiss that spot under her ear.
"I know..." she moans. "I just wanted a little preview." She giggles.
"Well, if you would have stayed in bed this morning, I could have given you a very long and detailed preview..." I say seductively and reach for the drawstring on her pyjama bottoms.
"Hardin..." she breathes. "Wh-what are you doing?" she asks and her voice hitches a little.
"Don't worry." I smirk and then lean into her. "I know you'll like it," I whisper into her ear.
Right as I'm about to give Tessa a little preview of how we'll be spending our night, her phone rings. "Hardin, I have to get that."
"Leave it, baby," I gently demand and start to dip my fingers into her waistband.
"It's Emma."
"Call her back later."
"Hardin! It might be important."
"Fine," I groan. "When you come back you're turning your phone off and I'm taking you right here on this couch."
Tessa rolls her eyes before answering her phone and walking away from me.
As I impatiently wait for Tessa to return from her phone call, I can't help but remember the last time I had my way with her on this couch. I love everything about my beautiful girl, but her being such a naughty girl, and only for me, is definitely at the top of that list.
"Hardin? Earth to Hardin!" Tessa waves her hand in front of my face.
"Sorry," I say with a little bit of a smirk still on my face.
"What were you thinking about?"
"All the reasons I love you." I smile.
"That sounds sweet, but somehow I'm sure it's actually dirty." She giggles and sits back down beside me.
"Speaking of dirty... Where were we?" I ask as I attempt to lift her shirt up.
"Hardin! We can't."
"We can."
"No... I have bad news."
"What bad news?" I ask, not really wanting to hear the answer.
"I have to go to Emma's."
"What? Why?" I groan.
"She had a fight with Nate and needs me. Apparently it was pretty bad. I don't know when I'll be home."
"But Tessa!" I whine. "It's our anniversary!"
"I'm sorry, Hardin. I have to go. She's my best friend. Please don't be upset. I promise I'll make it up to you." Tessa kisses me goodbye before leaving me pouting on the couch.
I spend the day alternating between missing Tessa and pouting that she actually left me alone on our anniversary.
Eventually, I fall asleep on the couch, sometime around dinner time.
About an hour after falling asleep, I wake up to my phone buzzing. I quickly grab it and see I have a text from Tessa, so I open it and read it. 'Need you on the roof!'
Need you on the roof? That's awfully cryptic. What the fuck is she doing on the roof? Is she okay? Is Emma with her?
I quickly grab my jacket and keys and make my way to the stairwell. I climb the stairs two stairs at a time and when I finally get to the top, I nervously open the door to the roof. "Tess?" I call out.
