"Hardin, it's time to get ready for school!" I shout for the fifth time.
"I'm not going. I'm too fucking tired," he groans and then turns over.
"Come on! I'll let you tell everyone we're engaged."
"Really?" he asks as he starts to sit up in bed.
"Yes." I smile at him.
"So, I didn't dream this weekend? We really are engaged?"
"We are!" I exclaim as I jump on the bed next to him.
"Okay, I won't pass up a chance to brag that the most beautiful girl in the world is all mine."
"I thought that might work," I giggle.
After Hardin gets ready, we leave for school. It's our last week before winter break and I'm excited to spend my birthday and Christmas with Hardin this year.
All throughout Literature, Hardin tells everyone we're engaged. Most of the people he tells, we don't really know, and the ones we do know really don't understand why I don't have a ring. But I don't care. All that matters is that Hardin and I understand.
By lunch time, Hardin has probably told more than half of the college population that we're engaged. I thought I would be mad, but I think it's really adorable and sweet.
"Hardin, remember that I want to tell Emma. You've already told everyone else. Now it's my turn," I giggle.
"Fine. But you better hurry up, or else I'll do it for you."
"Stop!" I say and playfully hit him as we walk up to Emma.
"Hey guys! How was your weekend?" Emma asks us.
"It was really great! Hardin took me to see The Fray in Seattle."
"Oh, that sounds fun!"
"Yeah, but it gets better!" I gush.
"Okay, tell me already!" she demands.
"Hardin and I are engaged!"
"Are you serious?"
"Yes!"
"I'm so happy for you two!" she exclaims and then hugs us both. She pulls back and says, "Show me the ring!"
I hold out my wrist and shake my charm bracelet.
"I'm confused," she says.
"I didn't want a ring yet, so Hardin gave me this engagement charm instead," I explain while showing her my infinity charm.
"Oh. You guys are so weird, yet so cute," she laughs. "I'm happy for you, Tessa." She smiles at me. "And Hardin... don't screw this up," she laughs.
"I'll try not to," Hardin laughs and wraps his arm around me.
"I actually have some news to share, too," Emma announces.
"Oh, what is it?" I ask curiously.
"Well, I'm dating someone new and his parents are kind of rich... Anyway, he has a cabin a couple hours from Seattle where you can ski and we're going to spend Christmas there. He told me to invite some friends, so would you guys like to come?"
"No," Hardin says at the same time I answer, "Yes!"
"Hardin! Why not? It sounds fun."
"Tessa..." Hardin whines. "This is our first Christmas as a couple. I wanted to spend it just the two of us. I thought we could put up a tree together, then maybe after we did that we could... make love in front of the fireplace," he says seductively while tucking my hair behind my ear.
"Um, you guys know I can still hear you, right?" Emma asks.
I give Emma an embarrassed smile, then pull Hardin aside. "Please? I really want to go! It sounds fun."
"Tess, no..."
"Please?" I beg and give him puppy dog eyes.
"Fuck. You're not playing fair. You know I can't tell you no."
"We'll have fun, I promise."
"Oh, yeah, because whenever you, me and Emma get together on a double date it always goes well," he says and then rolls his eyes.
"Emma?" I call over to her.
"Yes?" she replies.
"Is Zed coming?"
"Of course not!"
"How about Noah?"
"No..."
I turn back to Hardin. "See? It'll be fun."
"You're such a smart ass, Theresa," he laughs.
"I know." I smirk. "So, we can go?"
"Fine..." he groans.
"Thank you!" I shout and kiss him. "Okay, Emma, we're in!"
"Great! We leave on Saturday."
"No..." Hardin whines. "We don't get to spend your birthday alone either?"
"Hardin..." I pout.
"Fuck. Fine. We're in," he says grumpily.
"I have to get going, but I'm really excited about spending Christmas break with you guys! See you in yoga, Tessa. Bye, Hardin!" she says and then leaves Hardin and me alone.
"I don't know how you talked me into this, Theresa. I know it's going to be a disaster."
"Oh, don't be so negative! It will be fun. Maybe the four of us will get along well enough so that we can go on double dates like normal couples."
"Don't push it." He tucks my hair behind my ear before giving me a kiss.
"I love you," I giggle.
"And you're lucky I love you or else I would have been able to say no."
"Well, maybe I'll show you how grateful I am later," I say seductively as I play with Hardin's jacket.
"And I might have to let you show me." He smirks.
"Seriously though, thank you, Hardin. I'm really excited. I've never been skiing before. I'm sure there's lots of other fun stuff to do as well!"
"I really don't care. As long as there's a bedroom I can fuck you in all week, I'll be happy."
"Hardin!" I shriek as he wraps his arm around me and we head to our next classes.
