Emma and I spent last night crying in each other's arms, like two pathetic girls who were cheated on by their boyfriends.
We also decided not to go to school today. I can't face Hardin, and I look like a mess, anyway.
"Tessa, how do you feel about going to a frat party tonight?"
"What? No way!"
"Come on! It's Friday night and we have to get out of this apartment. I've spent the whole week crying. I need to do something to take my mind off everything."
"Fine. I'll go, but I'm only going for you."
"Thank you!" Emma says as she hugs me.
"Well, we better start getting ready. It could take me a while to look presentable," I joke.
A few hours later, Emma and I arrive at the frat house. I've only been here before because Emma used to date a guy who lived here.
"Okay, we're here, now what?" I ask Emma.
"We get a drink!"
"Oh, no! I don't drink."
"Well, I'm going to," she says as she leads me to a crowded room with a lot of people and a lot of alcohol.
We find a seat on the couch and before I know it, we're surrounded by guys. I can't help but think to myself how jealous Hardin would be... but he's not here. I decide to have a little fun and flirt back.
"See, Tessa? You're already forgetting that you and Hardin broke up!" Emma says a little too loudly.
"Emma, I think you've had enough to drink."
"Nope!" she laughs as she grabs another drink.
"Wow, Tessa, I never expected to see you here," a familiar voice says. I turn to see it's Zed.
"Zed..." I groan.
"The one and only," he jokes and I roll my eyes.
"I'm not in the mood to deal with you tonight," I say angrily.
"I bet you're feeling really stupid right now."
"Excuse me?!"
"For trusting Hardin. Once a womanizer, always a womanizer," he says heartlessly.
I just stare at him for a moment, unsure what to say.
"I overheard you and Emma talking about it," he adds.
"Well, I don't remember asking for your opinion," I say and turn away from him.
"Come on, Tessa, we used to be friends. Can't we just talk for a few minutes?"
"Why? Did your plaything dump you?"
"You mean Molly?"
"Unless there's someone else you cheated on me with..." I roll my eyes.
"Molly is Molly. She's already off doing some other guy."
"Poor him. But I would like to thank her for showing me what a scum bag you are."
"And who showed you what a scum bag Hardin is?" Zed chuckles.
"I'm not discussing this with you," I say and get up to leave.
"Wait..." Zed begs as he grabs my arm to stop me. "Just sit for a minute."
I don't know why, but I sit back down beside him.
"I miss you," Zed says, almost sounding like a caring human being.
"Well, I don't miss you," I snap.
"Are you sure? You don't still think of me?"
"I do. I think of all the shit you did to me."
"Tessa..."
"What?" I snap again.
"What if I tell you I'm willing to help you get even with Hardin?"
"What?"
"You know it would drive him insane to know we slept together," Zed says as he slides his hand up my thigh.
"Gross. You must be high to think I'd ever sleep with you!" I shout as I swat his hand away.
"Okay, maybe not out of love," he begins to say, then leans into me. "But doesn't revenge sound good to you right now?" he whispers in my ear.
As disgusting as Zed is to me, I can't deny how good it would feel to rub this in Hardin's face after he humiliated me by cheating on me with Janine.
"You're thinking about it, I can tell." He smirks.
"I-I..." I stutter.
"I live here now. We can go up to my room right now and teach Hardin a lesson."
"You do?"
"Yep. Come on, Tessa. You could stick it to Hardin and you might even enjoy yourself," he says as he runs his hand up my thigh again.
"You know what, Zed? I'd love to."
