Hardin and I follow Emma inside. "I'll show you guys to your room first, then you can meet him!" she says cheerfully.
As we're led to our room, I can't help but look around at the massive cabin. "This place is breathtaking!"
"I know! Everything is so beautiful here. I know you'll love it here!" Emma says as she shows us our room. "Okay, just come down when you're ready!"
"Don't you love it here, Hardin?"
"No."
"How can you say that?!"
"I like the cabin we stayed at more." Hardin pouts.
"Aw, Hardin, I did, too, but we can make new memories here, okay?" I ask and take his hands in mine.
"Okay," he whispers before hugging me.
"We can unpack later, let's go meet Emma's boyfriend!"
"Yes, I'm so excited," he says flatly.
Hardin and I make our way back downstairs to Emma.
"Guys, I'd like you to meet my boyfriend!" she says as she pulls him close to her.
"Nice to meet you." He reaches his hand out to Hardin. "The name's Dan."
I elbow Hardin and he finally shakes Dan's hand. "I'm Tessa and this is my boyfriend, Hardin!" I say with a bright smile.
"Actually, she's my fiancée," he corrects me and wraps his arm around my back, pulling me close to him.
"It's great to finally meet both of you. Emma has told me so much about both of you," he laughs.
"Okay, we better leave for dinner before we lose our reservations!" Emma interrupts.
As we follow them out the door, I whisper to Hardin, "See? He's a great guy! He's polite and not a 'rich douchebag' and he didn't even hit on me!"
"Yeah, well, we still have the rest of the night to get through," he mumbles.
"Behave," I warn.
We drive to the restaurant in one car and I enjoy seeing Emma so happy as she talks about how they spent their first day here.
When we get to the restaurant, the hostess seats us and our food comes pretty quickly.
Over dinner I show Emma the photos Hardin took of us in front of the Christmas tree and she tells me how she met Dan, while Dan tries to make conversation with Hardin. We learn about his work and hobbies and I can't help but smile at how happy Emma looks.
Dinner flies by and when I look over at Hardin, I can tell he's had enough. I make up an excuse about being tired from the drive, so we pick up the bill and go back to the cabin.
"Dinner was great tonight!" I tell Emma before following Hardin into the bedroom. "You could have said something nice, too," I lecture Hardin.
"I don't have anything nice to say." He shrugs.
"What's your problem?"
"I don't like the guy."
"Of course you don't! What could you possibly find to not like about him?"
"There's something off about that guy."
"What does that even mean?"
"He's... he's..."
"Perfect?"
"Exactly! He's too perfect. And I don't buy it for a second."
"Too perfect? It sounds like you're just trying to find reasons to not like him." I roll my eyes.
"I'm telling you, Tess, there's something wrong with him. You didn't listen about Noah and I was right then. I know I'm right now, too."
"Fine, Hardin. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I don't want to fight with you. I'd much rather do something else." I push him onto the bed.
Hardin pulls me down on top of him and I start to giggle as he tickles me. "And what did you have in mind, Theresa?" he asks and tucks my hair behind my ear.
"Something where you're wearing a lot less clothes," I giggle.
"Oh, such a naughty girl!"
"I'm a very naughty girl!" I say, mocking Hardin's accent.
"What the fuck was that?" he bursts out laughing.
"I thought I did a great English accent!" I giggle.
"That was fucking awful," he chuckles.
"Okay, I'll make it up to you." I start to pull his shirt off of him. I quickly undo his belt and pull his jeans and boxers off, tossing them to the floor.
"Okay, let's get you undressed now," Hardin says as he reaches for my shirt.
I slap his hand away. "Nuh-uh! I'm in control."
"Whoa. What's gotten into my sweet, innocent Tessa?" he chuckles.
"I'm just thankful to you for coming here with me and I wanted to show you my appreciation," I say as I trace my hands up and down his bare chest.
"Well, I won't stop you." He grins and places his arms under his head.
I straddle his lap as I start to place warm, wet kisses down his chest.
"Are you sure I can't undress you?" he chuckles.
"Nope!" I continue working my way down his body.
"Tess..."
I look up and lock eyes with Hardin. "Make sure you're quiet. I don't want anyone to hear us," I warn before taking him into my mouth.
"Holy fuck, Tess. How am I supposed to be quiet when you're doing that to me?"
I spend the rest of the night showing Hardin my appreciation before falling asleep in his arms.
