The school week dragged on because now that winter break is coming, our professors have been assigning extra projects and homework.

It's finally Friday and I have a surprise for Tessa. She's sitting on the couch studying, so I decide to sneak up behind her. "Are you actually studying on a Friday night, Theresa?" I whisper into her ear.

"Hardin! You startled me!" she giggles.

"Sorry, baby," I apologize and then kiss her cheek.

"It wouldn't kill you to study!" she giggles and then turns around to throw her eraser at me.

"Yes, it would," I chuckle. "Do you think you could take a break? I want to talk to you about something."

"Is it a good something or a bad something?"

"It's definitely good."

"Okay!" she chirps and closes her book.

I sit beside her on the couch and watch as her smile grows.

"Hurry up and tell me already!"

"Tess, you might want to go pack your suitcase because we're going away for the weekend."

"Hardin, we have so much school work to finish..."

"Come on, Tess, I want to celebrate our three month anniversary and your birthday."

"My birthday's not for a few weeks!"

"Please," I beg.

"Well... Where are we going?"

"We're going to Seattle. I got us tickets to see The Fray."

"Are you serious?"

"Yes. So, you want to go?" I chuckle.

"Yes. Yes!" she shouts as she leaps onto my lap and hugs me.

"Okay. You better go pack!"

"Thank you, Hardin." She kisses me.

"I love to see this smile." I trace her lips with my finger.

"I'm going to go pack now!" she says before she sprints toward the bedroom.

I really fucking love that girl. The simplest thing makes her so happy. I'm so grateful I get to make her smile every day of my life.

An hour later, Tessa comes out of the bedroom with a giant suitcase. She struggles to carry it to the front door.

"Tess, let me help you," I say as I get up and walk over to her. I start to carry it to the door. "This is really fucking heavy. What did you pack in here?" I chuckle.

"Um, well, you never tell me what we're going to be doing when you plan a surprise for me, so I packed a little of everything. I packed a scarf, mittens, boots, winter jacket, a fancy dress, heels, jewelry, makeup-"

"I think I get the picture," I laugh.

"Maybe you'll tell me exactly what we'll be doing, so I don't have to pack so much?"

"Nope! I'll just carry the damn suitcase. I've been meaning to start weight lifting anyway," I joke.

Tessa pulls her bottom lip between her teeth.

"What are you thinking, Tess?"

"About you working out." She blushes.

"You like that thought, baby? You want to watch me get all sweaty? You want to run your hands all over my muscles?" I ask seductively.

"Hardin!" she screams and covers her face with her hands.

"Maybe the hotel in Seattle has a gym. I've never had sex in a gym before." I wink at her.

"Stop teasing me!" she scolds and shoves my shoulder.

"Okay. I'm sorry," I say as I pull her into a hug and kiss the top of her head. "Maybe there's a yoga class in Seattle and you could wear those pants you know I love. I've never had sex in a yoga studio either," I chuckle.

"You're impossible!" she laughs as she tries to pull away from me, but I wrap my arms around her tighter.

"And that's why you love me." I smirk.

"That's one of the reasons. Another reason is because you're always planning wonderful surprises for me."

"You deserve them, Tessa."

"I love you, Hardin. I can't wait to spend our three month anniversary in Seattle."

"Neither can I. I can't believe you've put up with me for three months!" I laugh.

"Neither can I! I should get some sort of award," she giggles.

"Well, you'll just have to settle for concert tickets." I tuck her hair behind her ear.

"I'm so excited! I don't know if I'll even be able to sleep tonight!" she squeals.

"You better try! We have to leave bright and early tomorrow."

"Okay. Let's go to bed," she says and drags me to the bedroom.

We change and climb into bed. I spoon with Tessa until she falls asleep. I stay awake a little longer, thinking about how grateful I am for every second of the last three months.
