The drive to the grocery store is silent for the most part. I occasionally look over at Hardin and catch him staring at me. "Hardin, what's going on?"
"Nothing, Tess."
"Why are you still so sad? I thought we were okay now."
"I know. I just hate the feeling of fighting with you. It's the worst feeling in the world."
"I agree, so let's not do it anymore," I say as I give him a small smile.
"Okay, Tess." He grabs my hand and kisses the top of it and I can't help but give him another smile.
I pull into the parking lot and we get out of the car.
"Great parking job, Tess," Hardin snickers.
"Do you want me to leave you in the car?" I joke.
"Well, if you do, make sure to roll the window down for me," he jokes back.
"I missed this, even if it was only for one night."
"Me too, baby. One night without you felt like an eternity," he says as he wraps his arm around my shoulders and we walk toward the grocery store.
"So, what do you want for dinner?" I ask.
"Actually, I wanted to make something special for us tonight. It's a new recipe I wanted to try."
"Oh, what's in it?"
"I don't remember everything, but I wrote it down before we left."
"You did? Is that what took you so long?"
"Yes." He blushes.
"So while I was being mad at you, you were planning a romantic dinner for us?"
"Yes." He continues to blush.
"Hardin, you make it really hard to stay mad at you," I laugh.
"Good," he chuckles.
"So, what's in this recipe? Show me the list?"
Hardin reaches into his pocket to get the list. "Shit! I think I left it in the car. I'll go get it and meet you in there, okay?"
"Okay," I reply as he kisses me before leaving.
I continue walking toward the store when I hear someone call my name. I turn around to see that it's Noah.
"Hey, Tessa!"
"H-hi, Noah."
"What are the chances of running into you two days in a row?" he laughs.
"Yeah, that's pretty crazy," I laugh nervously. The last thing I need is Hardin seeing us together, so I try to make an excuse and leave. "Well, it was nice seeing you again, but I better get-"
"Wait! Tessa, before you go, I wanted to say something to you."
"Um, okay..."
"Seeing you last night brought back feelings I didn't know I still had. I know it's crazy to ask this, but did you feel it, too?"
"What?! No! I'm with Hardin and we're happy together. And you're with Emma! She's my best friend, Noah. I can't believe you would say this behind her back."
"She doesn't have to know anything about what I just said, unless you feel the same way."
"I already told you I didn't. Now, I really have to get going," I say as I try to turn and leave.
Noah grabs my arm and pulls me toward him.
"What are you doing, Noah?"
"I don't believe you when you say you don't feel the same way and I'm going to prove it."
"What the hell does that mean?" I shout as I pull my arm out of his grasp.
He answers my question by pulling me toward him and kissing me. I try to push him off, but his grip is too tight.
I finally manage to get loose from his grip and pull away, but it doesn't matter. It's already too late. "Hardin?" I gasp as I notice him watching us.
