After I rush back to the car to grab Tessa's gift, I make my way back inside and run into a familiar face in the foyer.

"You've got to be kidding me!" the dreadful, judgemental woman I keep crossing paths with says to me.

"Sorry, lady. I don't have time for your bullshit right now. I have a beautiful blonde waiting for me upstairs."

"You're actually a guest here?! I thought you were the hired help." She laughs.

"Why? Is this place too good for someone who looks like me?"

"It doesn't seem like the type of place to bring your one night stands. You really don't strike me as the type to be in a committed relationship."

"And what gives you the right to judge me?" I spit.

"You mean besides how you've destroyed your body with all those tattoos?"

"I'm sorry we can't all be as prim and proper as you are."

"How dare you speak to me like this!"

"Well, if that shocks you, then you better brace yourself for this... It's hard to believe you're here with anyone. With the way you're acting, it seems like it's been awhile since you've been laid."

The awful woman just stands in front of me, with her mouth wide open, but unable to speak.

"Thank God, you've finally shut up." I give her the biggest, mocking grin before leaving to go upstairs.

When I get upstairs, I can't help but burst through the door angrily.

"Hardin? Are you okay?"

"No, Tessa, I'm not," I huff.

"Why?"

"I'll give you one guess."

"That woman again?"

"Yep! And I couldn't stand her for another minute."

"Hardin... What did you do?"

"I told her off."

"Hardin, did you really need to do that?"

"Yes, Tessa, I did! This was my third run in with her and until now I've been holding my tongue, for you. I didn't want to cause a scene, but I don't deserve to be judged by her. She doesn't even know me!" I begin to shout as I pace around the room.

"I know you don't, but you're only stooping to her level now."

"I don't give a fuck! She needed to be put in her place."

"What did you say?"

"I basically told her she needs to get laid." I laugh.

"Hardin!"

"You should have seen her face. She finally shut that big mouth of hers."

"Hardin!"

"What?"

"You've been making so much progress lately. You didn't fight with Zed at the New Year's Eve party, you're getting along with Emma and Nate... Now it just feels like you're taking ten steps backwards."

"Tessa, I know you're disappointed in me, but even you wouldn't have been able to stand that woman."

"Hardin, please don't say anything else to her. I don't want the rest of our weekend ruined because of some woman you'll never even see again."

"But Tess..."

"Please? For me?"

"I'll try, but I'm not going to stand there and let her continue to insult me."

"Well, I just hope you don't run into her again."

"Believe me, I'll die a happy man if I never see that woman again."

"Let's just forget about her, okay?"

"Fine by me."

"Can I have my gift now?" Tessa smiles at me.

"No..." I laugh.

"Come on!"

"You'll have to wait until tomorrow, baby." I walk over and hide the gift in my bag. "Don't you dare try to peek!"

"You're just doing that to get back at me for last night! It was your fault you fell asleep." She giggles.

"No... It was yours! That massage put me right to sleep."

"You did look peaceful. It was a nice change from your usual grumpy expression." She giggles again.

"Well, how about I return the favour?"

"Sorry, Hardin, we don't have time."

"You always say that!"

"Well, it's always true. The next activity I signed us up for is starting soon."

"So? We'll just skip it. It's already Saturday afternoon. Our weekend away is over tomorrow and we haven't even fucked yet."

"I know I've said this already, but you're just so romantic."

"Sorry... we haven't even made love yet. Better?"

Tessa rolls her eyes at me. "Here," she says and passes me the fast food bag. "Eat your cold burger and fries so we can get downstairs. I don't want to be late."

"What are we doing this time?"

"You'll see in fifteen minutes."

"Please tell me it's not as girly as making scented candles."

"It's not."

"Why don't I believe you?" I ask as I narrow my eyes at her.

"Hardin... I thought you brought me here so I could have a fun weekend. This is what I want to do."

"Fine." I sigh. "But I better have a naked Tessa covered in whipped cream in my bed tonight, or else..."

"Yeah, keep dreaming." She laughs before pulling me out the door with her as I try to quickly finish my cold burger.
