Dangerous Minds Part Six

Hayes knew he fucked up the moment the car peeled away in such a manner and when they don't return by 9pm like that guy agreed, Hayes realizes that he basically just gave his brother up to a very dangerous person.

Hayes is scared, he might have a sibling rivalry with Nash but he doesn't wish bodily harm on his brother.

Bodily harm or even death. Hayes is terrified, he doesn't know where to start. He doesn't know who the guy is, he didn't get his name and Hayes just feels stupid. All he knows is what the guy looks like and the car they took Nash in.

He doesn't want to go to his parents. They will be livid that he put the life of his brother at risk, he may be the favorite but his parents love Nash deeply. After his blunder a few weeks ago and now this debacle, Hayes knows that his actions are enough to change his parents opinion on him.

He needs to fix this and he needs to fix this without involving his parents or the police. There's only one person that would know what Nash has actually been up to the past couple of months and that's Johnson. He scrolls through his phone and he doesn't have time to wait for a text response, he needs to talk to Johnson right away.

To his surprise Johnson picks up fairly quickly, it's a school night and Hayes stutters a bit because he wasn't actually expecting to talk right away.

"Spit it out, Hayes. Why the fuck are you calling me?" Johnson sounds annoyed and Hayes squeezes his eyes shut, this is the most stressful situation he's ever been in, he never imagined being worried for his brother's life. His jealousy of Nash got the best of him. People would wonder why Hayes would be jealous of Nash, he has the preference of his parents, he's popular, well-liked and he's always chased by boys and girls. But Nash, quiet Nash has the trust of his parents, they let him go out for hours because they trust him, it's not the same with Hayes. Nash has 3 friends that would do anything for him, Hayes has casual friends that he hangs out with no one he can trust. Skylynn prefers to spend time with Nash, she will climb into his bed and cuddle with him. She doesn't do that with Hayes, even when Nash is not home, Sky will just stay in her room.

So when Nash started to act strange and be secretive Hayes knew something was up. He was doing something that his parents would be vehemently against. Hayes was determined to rat him out and weaken the trust their parents have on him. After his failed attempt Hayes was pissed, he wanted revenge so he fell right into Skate's hands.

Now Hayes is scared that because of him Nash might be hurt, he never meant for it to get that far.

"Nash is in trouble," Hayes says quietly. He knows he has Johnson's attention when he hears rustling.

"What the hell do you mean?" Johnson says and Hayes sighs before he tells Johnson everything that happened.

"You fucking asshole. You have no idea what you just did. Nash could be fucking dead because of you, do you realize that?" Johnson tells him viciously and he's never heard Johnson that close to a total meltdown. Johnson always keeps his cool, nothing really fazes him.

"You better be ready in 10 minutes and put your big boy pants on." Johnson says and he hangs up. Hayes is nervous.

He has no idea what's going on but it seems like Johnson knows exactly what happened and he knows he made the right choice in contacting Nash's best friend. He waits for Johnson on the porch and he shakes his leg nervously. A car he doesn't recognize pulls up and he sees Johnson in the passenger seat and he wonders who is driving. He heads to the car and when he slides into the back seat he recognizes Jack Gilinsky. He was their school's most notorious bad boy, even the kids in junior high knew of him. What the hell is Johnson doing in a car with him?
