Tsunami
by PJ Perry
The gentle waves that lick the pebbled shore
Crest playfully and pounce a little more
Roll and slap appeased with gentle rubs
Equivalent to nature's tiger cubs
Playing over, the lapping wave retreats
The seabed naked showing off its secrets
The quilt of sea has met Poseidon horning
And wails cry out at the tsunami warning
Momentarily poised building its strength
The wave of waves perfects its focal length
Then waiting not another second more
Poseidon hurls his trident to the shore
The order has been given; destroy all in its path
It's been a little while since all has felt his wrath
Leave no pebble unturned, leave no quarter
And on command surged forth the wall of water
True to its word advanced the army of the sea
Attacking harbours and beaches with such ferocity
Smash and drown, crashing down
Thrashing out the screams of towns
Through the valleys, up the rivers
Poseidon's Kraken made all shake and quiver
They never in their lifetime thought that he would be released
The Kraken ate them whole, the merciless beast
The land fought back against the tidal surge
But ever onward did this force of nature surge
When finally defeated it rolled back to whence it came
Taking out as much as it could without any shame
The elements had battered the island nation
Leaving it with untold devastation
Earthquake - Tsunami - Nuclear Contaminants
All said and done us men are merely ants!
