I Am Shallow Deep Within My Soul
By PJ Perry
I am shallow deep within my soul
Though not lost because you can't find me
I may be blind to what you see
Even if I have taken, I never stole
In that cage you call a church
The human herd asks for guidance
My prayers drowned in subsidence
I did fall off the perch
Your absence has shown me the path
Through the life that I will travel
And complex times unravel
A smile turns into a smug laugh
One day before you I may stand
You'll be jury and the judge
For that I won't begrudge
But one thing you must understand
Your trial has already taken place
You may get a reprieve
From those who still believe
But you still didn't show your face
I don't need your shelter
I won't need you in the end
My actions I can defend
If you send me to the devils smelter
I didn't save the earth
That once seemed so much flatter
You didn't help either for that matter
At least I tried for what its worth
Alone I'll live until the end
I can cope with the insanity
But for what you haven't done for humanity
You will surely be condemned
