"You've gotten stronger." Seki's compliment was proud as he looked down at the boy he had trained, who now laid on his back.

"And you..." Y/n's breathing was heavy and exhausted. "You are somehow stronger."

"When you are the leader of the Sage's, you are forced to become strong. The world depends on it. It's my job to keep it as safe and peaceful as possible." Seki explained, helping Y

into a sitting position. "Mainly from outside threats. The things that happen on the Earth, the wars and the natural way of life, I can't do anything about."

"You did always say that those things were the tragedy built by the hands of mankind, who are fueled, whether they know it or not, by something more ancient than themselves."

"Exactly. After all you have seen by now, you know what that something is." Seki's head lowered, his eyes still hooked on Y/n.

"We're descended from the Ancients, aren't we?"

The question caught him off guard. He was used to Y/n asking questions he wasn't sure how to answer. It had always been something Y/n had done. He asked questions about everything, and Seki did his best to make sure he kept his thirst for learning. He answered the best he could and made them learning moments every chance he could. Oftentimes, those questions would be so far off topic, Seki couldn't even begin to fathom where Y/n had come up with them.

"Those questions will all be answered when you speak with the Ancients. You will be given the opportunity to speak with all three of the ones that look over Earth."

"I thought there were only two." Y/n said, the confusion was thick in his voice.

Seki helped him up and began to lead him to the meditation chamber, continuing the conversation as they walked.

"There are two that are known. There is a third." The confusion never left Y/n's face, so he explained further. "There is Natas, Father of sin and darkness. Elohim, Father of hope and light. And then there is Samael. He is the Father of truth. Samael is locked away. There is only one way in and out. That will be the way you get in to speak with him."

"Why is he locked away? Is it some sort of punishment?" Y/n was intrigued now, his eyes furrowed in confusion and wonder as he sat up from where he was laying.

"He is the truth. The truth is omnipresent. Both Natas and Elohim will only show you one side. Samael will give you nothing but the truth. The true middle ground." Seki knelt down next to the boy. "This is something that humans can never have access to."

The eye contact between them grew more intense. The ever growing need for answers hung in his eyes. It was heavy with intrigue and curiosity. The boy may have grown up since Seki last trained him, but he hadn't changed. He still wanted to learn and understand. The world for him wasn't just something that existed, it was something that needed to be understood. This made Seki smile.

"Humans can barely be trusted with the knowledge we have. We were not entrusted with it from the beginning. We have lived our entire existence without it. If we were to be given it now, there is no possibility that we would use it correctly." Seki continued to explain. "And that is what separates us from the ancients."

"That and the god-like powers they have."

"Okay, that as well." Seki surrendered.

"But I think I get it. We can't help ourselves. Sure, most of us are perfectly reasonable and only want to live our lives. But the loudest of us start wars, hurt, and cause suffering. And all of that is with the limited knowledge we currently have. There's no telling what we would do with the answers." Y/n looked off into space in deep thought as he reasoned.
