S4C10: The Acolyte

Y/n could feel his body floating weightlessly through the air, his mind clear and focused. He hadn't opened his eyes in thousands of years, but the Nexum nourished him, and he could feel his awakened power flowing through his veins, as though a dam had burst and began filling a cavern.

He soon realized that the extended meditation wasn't just to unlock this potential, but to also get it under control. His understanding of his role and abilities dawn on him the more he unlocks of himself. It wasn't a power that made him feel like he was going to explode. It was more like a radiating wave that flowed through his body. Not pressure, but comfort.

"I expected a boost in my power, but I never expected this much, but this portion of the training is only meant to brace my body and soul to accept the power that the Ancients will unlock.

The good. The Evil. The truth. The three aspects of not only life, but human nature. I don't know what I should make of it, but I won't have to worry for too much longer. I'm almost finished with this phase, and soon I will be face to face with the ones behind the curtain. The only thing I know is that this cycle... it ends with me." Y/n's mind raced as he flew through the air.

"It's time."

Y/n's eyes shot open. The room, that was once still and peaceful, was now encased and swirling with blue flames. Letting out a sigh, the fire around him died down and extinguished.

"You're awake." A familiar, grandfatherly voice spoke from behind him.

Turning back to see Seki, Y/n responded with a small smile and a nod. He quickly stood up and realized that his hair had grown quite a lot since he started meditating.

"Don't worry about it, we will get you a hair cut." Seki assured me.

"Did something happen while I was in meditation?" Y/n asked as he caught up to the old man.

"Did something seem off when you came out of meditation?"

"No, well not really. When I came out of it, there was some pretty crazy fire in the room."

"That is one of the reasons we have a dedicated room for the blue sole to meditate in. When your dormant soul is awakened, the power rushes out of you. For example, when you did, you practically exploded. Though, your awakening is the biggest we have seen in thousands of years. You blew the doors off, and scorched all the way down this hallway." Seki chuckled as he explained.

Looking around as they walked, he noticed it. There were scorches all along the walls.

"My bad..." Y/n said, his brow furrowed as he shrunk.

"Don't worry about it, kid. It gives us hope." Seki's words not only brought warmth to Y/n, but it also gave him a feeling similar to home. Maybe he could do this.

"So, the next step is the audience with the Ancients, right?"

"Precisely." Seki confirmed. "But you need to be prepared, so we will talk in the Chamber Room. This next step is very important, and you need to know what is going to happen and be prepared."

Y/n didn't know what to say, so he nodded silently as he followed the elder man.

"But first, you need to sleep. You need proper rest. Meditation is calming and refreshing, but when you unlock the amount of power you did, you will be feeling a very extreme fatigue soon. Your body just needs to catch up." Seki explained as they continued to walk, Y/n assumed to his room.

He was right. They arrived at his door. Seki gave a silent nod as Y/n opened the door and entered.

How could he sleep? Things were getting closer to the deadline. To the point where he would need to act and make his final stand. Scenarios ran through his head, every situation his mind could come up with. The problem was, he could only see himself losing. Failing everyone he cared about.
