Napa facepalm siya nung una atsaka natawa, oo nga pala how can he forget that he has a popular family. The first doctor to check Iona was one of his dad's friends, hindi na niya napansin ang doctor kanina nung makilala niya ito dahil sa pag-iisip. His Lola Meldy, Aunts,Uncles,Cousins everyone is here to congratulate him and Iona. He is glad that his family is supporting them all the way, he's happy to see Iona having fun and listening to his Aunts and mom about pregnancy and being a first time mom. As for us Ilocanos we have these superstitious beliefs during pregnancy and there's a lot. Inaasar naman siya ng mga lalaki sa pamilya.
"Woah Sandro my man I thought you'd be the last one to conceive a child" sabi ng isa sa mga pinsan niya.
"I know right, I thought Vinny would be the first one since malandi ang isang yun" tawanan naman nila.
"Hey, how about me?" nagtatampong tanong ni Simon
"Nah, you're a middle child so you'll grow old and alone as to what Vinny said" pang-aasar ng mga ito kay Simon well uso kasi ngayon sa social media or tiktok yung trend about sa mga middle childs. Minsan hindi niya maiwasang hindi malaman ang mga ito because Iona is somehow addicted in watching some videos on tiktok.
"So, Sandro you went all the way to honeymoon first before wedding" kantyaw naman ng isa sa mga uncle niya. Hindi alam ng iba sa pamilya ang nangyari kay Iona since we don't want this to get out of hand pagdating sa media. Iona will feel embarrassed if that happened.
"Oh by the way, Sandro, are we going to hear wedding bells soon?" tanong naman ng isa pa. Mukhang mas madaling sumagot ng mga ambush interviews kesa iambush siya ng pamilya niya ah.
"Oh that I need to propose first Tito since we just heard about her pregnancy today" sa totoo lang nafefeel na niya ang pressure coz to be honest wala sa plano nila ni Iona ito feeling niya ang bilis masyado ng pangyayari, hindi naman sa nagsisi siya but he do hope that his relatives won't pressure him like this. Pero alam niyang hindi papayag ang Lola Meldy niya at ang daddy niya na hindi sila makasal ni Iona bago ito manganak. His family is very traditional when it comes to these kinds of things and besides he told his dad and Iona that he will take responsibility at mahal niya ang dalaga ano pa bang hahanapin niya. Siguro nabibilisan lang siya sa lahat ng nangyayari all of this is new to him.
"Oh he has to kung hindi itatakwil ko yan" pagbibiro ng ama. Natawa na lang siya sa sinabi nito.
After the little celebration it's time for them to talk with Lola Meldy, umuwi na din ang ibang Mariano.
"I'm happy for the both of you mga apo, but since unexpected things happened last month I'm going to ask the both of you kung anong nararamdaman niyo ngayon and what are you planning to do next?" tanong ng kanyang lola. Iona answered first.
"I'm scared po lola Meldy, I feel like Sandro and I are not ready but what can we do, we need to accept it. Aside from that, I feel like a responsibility, an obligation coz Sandro needs to do it in order to save me. We had sex lola, not the normal way of making love between two lovers. I love your grandson Lola Meldy but I don't wish to have a wedding right now. Okay na samin ni Sandro na mag-focus na muna sa baby." saad ng kanyang nobya.
"And you Sandro?" tanong sa kanya ng kanyang Lola
"I love Iona Lola, no question about that. When I did that thing to her that night I'm already aware of the possibilities and consequences. But everything is happening so fast, I mean I'm busy with my campaign, and now Iona's pregnant. She's right Lola Meldy let us focus first with the baby" he said
"I'm glad that both of you are responsible when it comes to your action, I understand Sandro and Iona but I'm sorry, I need you to be married in two weeks time, it doesn't matter what kind of wedding, the both of you will decide but I need to protect you and my great-grandson from possibilities. Iona when you decided to take my grandson you are aware that sometimes or maybe most of the time his work as a public servant is his first priority. Your Mami Lisa understood that when he married your Pops. And as a woman, you should be there beside him to support and give him strength when he needs it. He's not yet a congressman. We need to avoid rumors and fake news that will leak. You know very well how others can manipulate the media just to say something bad to any of the Marianos. And on top of that to protect you and the baby, please do understand mga apo we are not in a normal situation right now. " naiintindihan niya ang ipinupunto ng kanyang lola tama nga naman ito, they need to do every possible way just to keep Iona and the baby's safety.
" Mga anak, your marriage will keep you away from danger. There's no need to elaborate the why's and if's, both of you are clever enough to know the situation" pakiusap ng kanyang ina
"Mom, Dad and Lola Meldy, I'll do whatever it takes to keep my family safe" sabay hawak sa kamay ni Iona giving her a reassuring smile. Gumanti naman ang dalaga.
"To keep everyone safe" saad din nito. Masaya naman silang pinagmasdan ng tatlo.
"Well aside from those reasons of course you know very well how traditional I am when it comes to marriage I don't want a Mariano to be born na hindi kasal ang magulang" saad ng kanyang lola and they completely understand her. Well, his and Iona's days passed by, him with his campaigns and of course tagging along with his father while Iona is busy planning for their wedding with my Mom and titas. Iona and I decided to go with a simple beach wedding somewhere around Ilocos. They only invited close family and friends and is very private, not even a single media kasi nga ayaw ng dalaga bahala na ang team ni dad to cover it for them para sa mga supporters nila.
