"Laci!it's so good to have you home!"my mom exclaimed as I hugged her.Thanksgiving was here,for some reason Chris didn't want to spend it with his family so I'm letting him spend it with me.I don't mind,I see it as an opportunity to introduce him to them anyway."hi mom."I greeted her,I hugged her back.she pulled back from the hug and smiled,then she noticed Chris behind me."who's he?"she asked,"oh!mom,this is my boyfriend Chris."I introduced her to Chris.I held his hand,"Chris,this is my mom Mona."I introduced him to her."it's nice to meet you,you have a beautiful and smart daughter."Chris said,I blushed.my mom looked shocked,but then a grin appeared on her face.
"I HAVE A SON IN LAW!"She cheered,Chris and I both blushed in embarrassment."mom!"I exclaimed,"John!John come downstairs!Laci is here,and she brought us a son-in-law!"she exclaimed as she ran towards the stairs.I groaned and facepalmed,"I regret all of my life choices."I mumbled.Chris kissed the side of my head,"deep breaths baby,deep breaths."he said.we grabbed our stuff and walked into the house,Chris looked around as I closed the front door."so you grew up here?"he asked,"no I grew up on Mars."I replied sarcastically.he laughed,I began to laugh as well.
Chris' pov
"And this is Laci in 8th grade,she used to be so good at the guitar."Laci's mom,Mona,said as she showed me pictures of Laci's childhood."why did she stop?"I asked curiously,she paused."I'm not sure if...I should really say..."she said,I raised an eyebrow in confusion.she sighed,"no,no I should tell you.you're practically family now,it's only right that you know."she said.now I was extremely curious,she flipped through some pages of the book.I saw a picture of Mona,John,Laci,and a boy."who's the boy?"I asked,"her brother."she replied."is he..?"I asked,"oh!goodness no,no,he's not dead."she replied."his name is Edward,but we call him Eddie."she began to explain,"where is he?"i asked.
"Last we heard of him,Chicago with his girlfriend Beth and his friend Frank."she replied,"so...she stopped because he left?"I asked.she nodded,she closed the book and put it down on the coffee table."he was her main source of inspiration when it came to music,she was his inspiration too."she explained,"you know,she tried to learn to the bass."i admitted.she smiled,she then sighed again."I'm sorry...I uh,didn't mean to bring up memories."I apologized,"oh it's fine dear."she assured me.she gave me a hug,I slowly hugged back.it's been so long since I've seen my own family,I forgot how all of this felt.
