Chapter 14

1990

Laci's pov
"Shit..."I mumbled,I dug into my pocket for some cigarettes.things weren't really going so well on the tour like Chris and I thought it would,even though it was the band's first tour it wouldn't really be tour without problems would it?ok so,let me catch you up to date on what's happened so far:after accepting Chris' moving in proposal I moved into his apartment with the help of Brianna and Stevie,who now live in a new apartment complex since they don't need a three bedroom apartment anymore.the start of the tour wasn't really that bad,until the problems started.first off,I was surprisingly doing well at my job.but Jason,however,was starting to stir up issues(which I later found out from Krist in 1992 that it was the same issues he had with Nirvana before).

So we had to fire him.well,I had to fire him.that's the worse part about being manager,being the one who tells someone your related to that they're fired.Kim said it was the best but for a while I wasn't so sure,I was so stressed out that I've resorted to smoking.our European tour was coming and we needed a bassist,quickly.I first suggested that I should maybe try learning bass so that I could be a quick replacement until we found a permanent one,but Matt thought that there wouldn't be any time for me to learn.he wasn't wrong,and so for now:we were bassless,i of course was trying to learn bass but I didn't realize it was more difficult then the guitar.

"Hey babe,smoke break?"Chris asked,seeing me take out a cigarette.I nodded,he grabbed one from me and put it in his mouth.I sighed,"I should really quit these things."I said.he chuckled,"everyone says that,and then they end up crawling right back to it."he said.I looked at him,"but I'm serious Chris.these could affect my lungs,and yours."i said.he looked at me,he grabbed the cigarette in my hand and threw away mine and his."we'll go cold turkey."he said,grinning.I smiled,I gently hugged him."hey guys!takeout's here!"Matt yelled,"we're coming!"Chris yelled.I laughed,"they're like our children."I joked.he seemed to tense up a bit when I said that,"heh...yeah..."he said nervously.

I gave him a look,"you ok?"I said.he let me go,"y-yeah,let's just go eat takeout."he said.he ran inside,I was so confused.I shook it off and walked inside,greeted with the smell of Chinese food."thanks for ordering food for us Laci."Kim said,"yeah,you're like the best manager/friend ever."Matt said."ah shucks,it's nothing really."I said,sitting down next to Chris."and,might I add,You're the best girlfriend ever."Chris said,wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to him.I blushed and smiled,"Ugh get a room you two."Matt joked."later."Chris said,I widened my eyes and blushed in embarrassment.
