capítulo 19

A few minutes passed and Bruno and I were just swinging our arms in rhythm to the songs. Nothing that played really got my limbs moving. Bruno sighed as the song stopped. "I'm kinda thirsty, can we go get some water?"

"Sure, is everything alright?" I asked him, grabbing hold of his hand and leading him over to the table.

"Yeah, just kinda bored. We had more fun when it was just the two of us, I feel so awkward around all these strangers." He mumbled to me, rubbing his arm as I got him a cup of water.

I handed it over to him with a kiss on the cheek. "Then pretend it is just us two." Coincidentally, 'Just the Two of Us by Grover Washington Jr. started playing. "That's just perfect. Here, let me lead." We threw away our empty cups and went over to dance. I grabbed his hands and started slowly teaching him some basic moves.

"This... this seems pretty easy!" He exclaimed happily, slowly picking up the tempo to match the song. He added in some more moves that I struggled to keep up with, but he made sure to reel me back into the dance. Everything became easier as he continued to dance with me. "You're right!" He said, leaning into my ear to whisper, "everything is much better with just you and me. Even if I'm acutely aware of people watching."

I smiled back at him, and when the song finished I pulled him into a large hug. "That was really fun, Bruno! I didn't know you were so good at dancing."

"I have been to parties before, I've picked up a couple moves." He said with a smirk.

"Wow! You two looked great out there!" Sarah said, walking up to us. "Can I get a picture for the yearbook?"

"Actually, can you just take a picture on my phone for me? I'd like to keep this moment personal." I said to her, handing her my phone with the camera open.

"O-of course! Smile!" She said, clearly disappointed I didn't want our picture in the yearbook. She snapped the picture and gave me my phone back. "Enjoy the rest of the dance!"

"You too!" Bruno said to her, waving as she walked away. He immediately turned to look at me, the smile not leaving his face. "Let me see it!"

"Okay okay! Here." I turned the phone to show him and, somehow, his smile got larger.

"I love it! You look so good!" He over-exaggerated, zooming in on my features. Then, he seemed to notice something in the photo. His eyes flashed from the phone to my figure repeatedly. "Y/n!" He shouted, pulling me into a hug.

My arms were stuck at my sides as he dragged me towards the bathrooms. "What are you doing? Hey! Stop!"

Once we got there he let me go and I saw the bright flush on his face. He was gesturing at my top, "you, were, um... exposed. I don't know for how long.

I looked down, and sure enough the top was twisted awkwardly exposing some of my chest. "Oh my-" I started rushing to fix it, and Bruno tried to help me.

Eventually, we were able to get everything back into a proper position and I simply just smiled at him. "Should we... go back in there?"

"Yeah, just let me text Rose real quick." I sent her the photo and captioned it 'Bruno and I after dancing to Just the Two of Us! Aren't we so cute?'

'Very.' She responded with a heart emoji. I smiled and we made our way back into the main room.

We walked in as one song came to an end, and another one picked up. "I love this song! Come on!" I shouted, dragging him in quickly. The song playing was 'Flawless' by The Neighbourhood. I started swaying to the beat, grabbing his hands to encourage him to join me. As it went on, I placed my arms loosely around his neck and he placed his hands on my hips. I was lip-syncing the lyrics and making eye contact with him. He wasn't focusing on the words, or the song at all, but he was watching me. I placed a hand under his chin and sang with the song. "You're a doll, you are flawless."

"And I just can't wait for love to destroy us." He continued, meeting his eyes with mine. I smiled and pulled him closer to me.

The song was just about over at this point, and when it was, I received another text from Rosemary. 'Vincent and I are about done getting everything set up. Meet us as the public library just down the road from where you are. You know the one. I have everything you wanted Bruno to have.'

My smile faded while I read it. "Y/n?" Bruno asked as we walked back towards the entrance. "Y/n what is it?"

I looked into his eyes, a few tears pricking them. "It's time."

Heyyyy y'all. I know some of y'all have been waiting to see what happens. Do you go with him? Does he stay with you? Do you both go your separate ways? I guess we'll see in chapter 20 ;)

P.S. I read this chapter with the song playing at the same time AND I GOT THE LYRICS TO MATCH UP WITH WHAT I WROTE ALMOST EXACTLY. It was only off by a few seconds. A C T U A L L Y screaming rn.
