Bruno and I were walking hand in hand to the meeting place. "It's kinda funny, isn't it. I mean, I just had a dream that took place there." I chuckled out, trying to keep my mind positive. I let out a shiver and held my shoulders.
Bruno placed his coat over my shoulders. "You're absolutely shivering, mi vida, put this on." We stopped as he waiting for me to get my arms through the openings. He placed his arm around my shoulders and we continued making our way to the library.
☆~ later ~☆
When we arrived in the front of the place, Vince and Rose were sitting on the steps patiently. Rose stood to greet us first, pulling me into a hug. "Y/n, I need you to come with me. Bruno and Vince and set up in the back. We're doing everything behind the library, but we need one more book. You and I are gonna go inside and get it."
"O-of course." I said. I turned to Bruno and grinned, giving him the coat back. "I'll see you later." I kissed his cheek and we parted ways.
Rose and I made our way through the doors and she immediately darted to the elevator. "Not many people know about this, but my sister does work here part-time. So I know more than basic patrons here." Rose said, pressing buttons and scanning her sisters' card on the scanner.
"Rose, where are we going?" I asked nervously, ringing my hands together.
She looked at me with a smile, grabbing my hands in hers in an attempt to calm me. "We're going to the archives. Only people who work here know about them. They're in the basement along with some books Vincent stores in a cabinet down there."
The elevator beeped and we both briskly walked out. It looked just like the main level, only with a bit more dust. "Cozy." I said, sarcastically, making my way over to some cabinets that look recently used.
"We're looking for a liquid potions book. He needs to make sure all of his conversions are correct."
"Conversions?" I asked, stopping my search to look at her. "What would he need to convert?"
"Well... I was gonna wait to tell you, but Vince had enough to make two transportation potions. At least he thinks he does. That's why we're checking."
"Two? Why two?" I asked, a panic growing in my voice because I already assumed the answer.
"Well, we figured we'd send you with him." She said with a shrug, wiping a stray tear away.
"No? No! No, you aren't doing that. You said yourselves I won't even remember him, so why send me with him?" I practically screamed, trying not to cry.
"That's the problem, you'll be miserable again. I don't want to see you looking so sad. When you're around him... you're different. He's exactly what you need." More tears started to fall, and my own tears fell with her.
"If you want to see me, you'd keep me here! You'd be selfish and not let me leave! Why are you doing this? Do you want to get rid of me that bad?" I asked through the choking tears.
"No- no it's not that-"
"Then what is it, Rosemary?"
"It's because I love you! I was... in love with you, but I knew it wasn't right. Us... together... wasn't what the universe intended. I loved you, but I knew I couldn't have you." Rose explained, calming down as she spoke. Her face lowered to stare at the ground as more tears rushed out. I looked around before my gaze traveled back to her.
"But... but... you and Vincent! I thought you two liked each other before I became your friends?" I asked, taking a step towards her. She shook her head and took a small step back.
Then, she looked back up and made sad eye contact with me. "Vincent and I were only close because he was helping me get with you. All of the after school meetings, all of the sleepovers, everything. It was for you. But then I realized we weren't meant to be. That's when I started to like Vincent. In our junior year. He confessed, and then I confessed, and here we are.
"It took me awhile to fully get over my crush for you, considering we were still close friends, but eventually I did. I realized Vince was who the universe wanted for me." She smile as the tears fell slower. "I know who you belong with. You need to be with him. You need to be with Bruno."
My face twisted, and I repeated myself. "No! I-I-I can't! I'm not leaving you! You're my only friend. I love you. I love you and I'm not leaving- I can't leave- I can't," my sobs got heavier as she pulled me into a hug.
"Y/n, you remember how Bruno got here? You wished on a star?" I thought back to that night. I should've never- "I used my wish on you. I wished for you to be happy. I knew you weren't happy. That movie was making you happy. If you don't do this, you'll be wasting more than just your wish. You need to go with him." She pulled away from the hug, wiping my tears away and then her own. "Plus, are you truly willing to give up all of your memories of him?"
I thought back to everything Bruno and I have been through together, especially tonight. "I guess.. if you all forget me... then it would hurt less, won't it?" I said with a light laugh. We embraced each other one final time and made our way out of the basement with the book.
We made our way to where the boys were at behind the building. They were inside a large circle made of sand, similar to what Bruno would have made in the movie. "Is everything okay, mi amor?" Bruno asked, placing his hand on my back. I blushed at him saying this in front of my friends as I wiped away the rest of my tears.
I turned and smiled, sitting next to him in the circle. "Yes, Bruno. I'm... I'm going with you. To the Encanto. To be with you."
His eyes widened and he grabbed my hands, worried, "b-but what about your life here?"
"Meh, it's... it wouldn't be worth it to just let you go. I can't let you be the one that got away." I said with a smile, planting a kiss to his stubbly cheek. "Plus, do you know how boring it would be without your goofy ass living with me?" I asked, elbowing him playfully.
"Alright you two lovebirds." Vince interrupted, cracking his knuckles and watching Rose tie the bags to our arms. Apparently she packed me a bag as well and got them sealed shut. "The way this works it simple: I have this bucket right here," he said as he patted the small bucket.
"That's the portion size for two people?" I asked. He glanced up from the book as he was reading the spell out.
"Yes? Anyway. I have to dump this over the two of you and repeat these words. As soon as it touches you, you will loose all sense of this world. You'll be traveling through universes as I say the words that direct you to your desired place. Blah blah blah, the details aren't important and you'll get where you need to go. Ready?" Vince finished by closing the book with one hand.
I nodded and Bruno squeezed our clasped hands. Rose grabbed the bucket and followed Vincent's directions. We were doused with the liquid, but it didn't feel wet. It felt like a gust of wind and my eyes closed out of surprise. When they opened, I was surrounded by the night sky.
The stars shined in different colours, but as I looked at them closer, I saw they were different worlds.
In the one I was focusing on, I saw a figure with fluffy white hair talking to a couple other people. As talked, they glanced over and made eye contact with me. He smiled and waved, and I waved back.
I kept looking around before I felt a tug on my waist. It was like a rope pulling me down. I looked below me to see Bruno a few feet down, looking at where we were being pulled. The two bags on my arms helped to weigh me down where he was. I smiled and he grabbed my hands again.
We plummeted into the world faster than before. There was a sound of rushing water as we broke through, and then I heard a grunt from above me.
Y'all- anyway, if you know who I was referencing with the 'fluffy white hair' then I love you slightly more than the others. My inspiration behind the whole universes thing is from The Arcana game. <3 that game <3
