The party ended when all of the kids were put to bed. Alma was the first to leave, wanting to go to bed to early so she could start planning the wedding and party.
I climbed into the bed next to Bruno and immediately fell asleep, but it was only for an hour or so. I rolled over, expecting Bruno to be balled up like he usually is, but I felt nothing. Not a single presence other than my own in the room. I decided to get up and look for him, worried about where my future husband may have run off to.
I stumbled out of the room and relied on the railing to to get down the stairs. "Maybe he's hiding out in the kitchen." I mumbled to myself, making that the first place I checked. As soon as I turned the corner, there he was. He was sitting on the counter, crossed-legged, placing pieces of food between his legs. "Bruno?"
He jumped at the sound of my voice. "Y-Y/n! What are you doing down here?" He asked. As he went to get up, a few rats scuttled away. So that's why he was placing food down.
"I could ask you the same thing!" I whisper yelled. "I thought you ran off somewhere. I got worried so I went looking for you." He grabbed my hands and furrowed his brows.
"Why would you think I'd leave you? And on the night I proposed? I'd be a fool, a goddamn fool." He said as he pulled me into a hug. I lightly returned it and shoved my face into his shoulder. "I love you so much, I'm so excited to be with you for the rest of my life."
I sniffed and held him tighter. "I love you too, Bruno. I never want you to leave, ever."
We stayed that way for a short while until we heard a cough behind us. We immediately broke apart and turned around. Julieta stood in the entrance with a tired smile and her arms crossed. "As much as I love the both of you and how much you love each other, can you keep it to your room?" She asked, a patient, kind look in her eyes.
"R-right! Let's go Y/n." Bruno said, grabbing my by the wrist and dragging me back to our room. Once we were back, he flopped onto the bed and curled into his little ball.
I sat next to him and pet his hair. "So... you've been befriending the rats without me?" He turned his head and I saw a faint, embarrassed blush on his cheeks.
"Yeah... they really like the food, and they just listen. They don't try to solve my problems, complain about visions, or tell me what to do." He paused for a minute before his eyes shot wide. "N-not that you do any of that! It's just... sometimes you're busy watching the little ones and... and... I don't know. I don't want to be a bother to you."
I placed my hand on his cheek as he sat up. "Oh, darling, you'll never be a burden to me. I would've left if that were the case."
He leaned into my hand and placed his own over it. "You're right. I'm sorry."
"Don't feel sorry for your feelings. Let's just be more open to communication, okay? I'm always here for you, no matter what I'm doing." I planted a kiss on his forehead and got cozy under the covers. "Now lets get to sleep for tomorrow, I have a feeling we're going to have a lot to do."
And I was right. The next morning we were immediately bombarded by Alma, Pepa, and Julieta about planning for our wedding.
I've decided on a small filler before the next full chapter. LET'S GOO-
