Delaney Sugg
I was standing on my spot waiting for the music to start. My heart was racing but I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. My music started and I began my routine. I was so nervous that I had no clue what I was even doing but I knew it was what I learned.
After my routine was over, I felt so relieved. Everyone clapped and cheered and I smiled walking off toward my team. They all enveloped me in a hug. Then I saw Randy leaning against a tree with some water. I ran over to him and gave him a hug.
"See? I knew you could do it. Now drink up. It's super hot out." Randy commanded. I grabbed the bottled water from Randy and took a sip of it. We had a bit of a break so Randy and I sat under the tree together. I saw Joe and Zoe and my mom and dad come over.
"You did amazing!" My mom smiled.
"Thank you." I replied.
"Didn't know you still had it in you." Joe commented laughing.
"Wow. Thanks Joe." I rolled my eyes playfully.
"You really did do great! I never would've been able to do that." Zoe complimented.
"Well, thanks." We all sat together and chit chatted. Zoe fixed my hair and makeup too. Some of my team joined us and were fans of Joe and Zoe, of course. It basically turned into a mini meet and greet. I sat back and closed my eyes wanting to get out of the heat. This was the hottest day of the year.
It was now my teams turn to do the team competition we all fixed our hair and makeup and got ready to perform. I was less nervous now but I had a little bit of a headache and stomach ache but I shook it off and got in my spot.
The announcer called our team and we all went onto the field. I waited for our music to come on and showed off my smile. I did my flips and everything but then I started feeling really sick and light headed. I ran over to my spot where I would be lifted up for my flyer job. I ran and collapsed. I heard people gasp and I blacked out.
Randy Smith
I was proud of Delaney she was doing so good. She stepped out of her comfort zone which you have to be brave to do.
I watched her with her team perform. They were doing amazing. I saw Delaney run to her spot when all of a sudden she collapsed. Everyone gasped. I was immediately off my seat and running toward her with water.
When I got to her people were already around her so I pushed my way through.
"Delaney!" I shouted but she was unconscious. I sat her up and poured a tiny bit of water on her forehead. She was breathing but still unconscious. Paramedics were showing up but I still held onto her.
"Sir. Your going to have to leave so we can get her the help she needs." A man said.
"I can't. I have to stay with her." I replied shaking my head.
"At least back up, sir." I backed up and watched. The paramedics were doing medical things to her then ended up putting her on a stretcher. I ran beside it and watched as they put her inside the ambulance.
"Sir. Please. Just meet us at the hospital." The paramedic said.
"No. Please. I have to go with. I can't have anything happen to her." I begged.
"Please. Sir, I can assure you she will be fine."
"No! I need to come with." I replied with gritted teeth. The man said and ushered me inside the ambulance. I sat on a bench next to the stretcher and held onto Delaney's hand. I kissed her hand softly then remembered I should call her parents to tell them to meet us at the hospital.
"Excuse me. Um....what hospital are we heading too?" I asked the annoyed paramedic.
"Union." The guy sighed.
"Thanks." I muttered and dialed Delaney's moms number. It rang twice before she picked up.
"Randy! Where is she?" Her mom answered.
"We are headed to Union Hospital. I'm with her right now. She's going to be ok. Just meet us at the hospital." I explain.
"Oh god. Thank you so much." She hung up and I held onto to Delaney's hand tightly. If something happened to her, it would kill me. Loosing two family members you love is a terrible feeling and if I lost Delaney it would make me feel worse and I'll have to go back to the mental hospital again and I don't plan on going there any time soon.
We arrived at the hospital and I got out first. I waited for the stretcher to be pulled out and I ran beside it. The paramedics rushed her to the back of the hospital. A paramedic stopped me from going any farther.
"I'll let you know when you can see her as soon as possible." The younger man said. I nodded and sat against the wall in the waiting room. I put my head in my hands and rested my elbows on my knees. Nothing can happen to her. Nothing. It would be too much pain. A hand on my shoulder took me out of the thoughts. I looked up to see Delaney's mom. She smiled sadly and sat next to me.
"She'll be fine." She sighed. She put an arm around my shoulder and pulled me toward her for a hug. I leaned in and returned the hug.
"It's hard. Loosing my only 2 siblings and now the thought of loosing someone I love....." I trailed off and shook my head trying my hardest not to cry.
"Oh honey. You've been through way to much. Just think of positive thoughts. Maybe once Delaney is all situated you'll be able to really start your living together." She smiled.
"I guess. I hope so." I replied. Holding the small box that was in my pant pockets the whole time.
