Jaemin x Jisung
The pitter-patter of rain resounds throughout the dark, chilly city, adding onto the beautifully ominous night. Glowing orange and maroon street-lamps provide the only light for outdoors as the roads are mostly empty from cars, minus the few zooming past to get to their destinations.
Inside a house is a taller boy sitting on his bed, trembling with tears threatening to spill out of his eyes.
Jaemin enters the room in search of the boy and stops before worry fills him as he takes in the state of the younger.
"Jisung? What's wrong?"
"I'm scared", he says, quietly.
"Of what?"
He doesn't answer, knowing that make will probably find his fear ridiculous. He does too but he can't help his feelings.
"Jisung, what are you scared of?" Jaemin presses.
"The sound of rain."
"What?"
"The sound of rain. Like the sound it makes when it hits the house. It feels like it can pelt down a hole through the roof and it makes me anxious. I know it's kinda weird."
"What will make you feel better?"
"Distract me. Please."
"Any particular way?"
Jisung shakes his head. "I just wanna stop focusing on it."
Jaemin nods. "Okay. I love you."
"I love you too. "
The older boy helps the younger stand up and leads him to his room and over to the bed. He covers him with the fluffy blanket and watches him snuggle against the mountain of pillows and stuffed animals.
He takes off his cardigan and places it on top of his decorative stool with the intention it up later. Then, he grabs the remote from the TV stand and joins Jisung in his bed.
Jisung shifts towards him and doesn't oppose when Jaemin puts his arm around him and pulls him into him.
He turns on the TV and clicks on his Netflix profile before handing the remote to the younger.
"Anything", he tells him before he can ask.
"You sure?" Jisung asks, quietly.
"Anything."
He puts on one of his comfort movies, a bit nervous because he watches it constantly so all his friends have seen it at least once and heard him watching it like three times.
"I like this movie", Jaemin says, the ghost of a smile on his face making Jisungs eyes widen.
"You do?"
"Mhm."
The two settle into silence as the movie starts. Luckily, it works as a distraction and Jaemin turned to volume loud enough to help drown out the noise of rain hitting the house.
About twenty minutes into the movie, Jisung moves even closer to Jaemin, going back to focusing on the rain but trying not to.
He lets out a sigh and says, "I wish I were one of the people who find the sound of rain calming. Instead, it gives me anxiety."
Jaemin kisses the side of his head. "You're okay. I'm here with you, I love you."
"I love you", Jisung mumbles, shifting onto his side so he's almost pressed against his chest.
He wants to watch the movie but he's too on edge to be farther from the older boy so he opts for using him as a pillow and listening mostly, instead of watching.
Outside, the rain drops down harder so now the heavy pattering is everywhere, pounding down on cars, buildings, trees, benches and everything outside.
The young boy whimpers, fear spiking up in him again, even more afraid of the water breaking through the roof.
"I got you", Jaemin tells him and starts mumbling sweet nothings in attempts to calm him.
By the time the rain lets up, Jisung is fighting sleep, finding everything around him cozy.
"Do you want me to turn the TV off?" He hears the older boy ask.
"Keep it on or play some music please", he mumbles.
"You got it."
Since it's late, he decides to pause the movie and turn off the TV so he can play music from his phone instead. Fortunately, he and Jisung had some similar tastes so he would enjoy the songs that came on.
After that, he turns off the light and turns toward Jisung who sleepily moves back to his place against Jaemin, resting his head on his chest.
He feels a hand in his hair gently caressing his head, lulling deeper into sleep.
Jaemin kisses his forehead and the last thing he hears—for the fifth time that night but he's not complaining—is, "I love you, good night. Sleep well, Jisung."
Shorter one-shot this time. It's actually because I never planned to write this at all but it was raining like really really early in the morning when I was still awake and I actually got scared so I write this to cope 🤪
It's so weird because I think I've only got concerned by the rain twice in my whole lifetime—that being the second time—and I'm usually fine.
Also, writing this, I realized that this is (so far) the only one-shot that could be interpreted as platonic or romantic. It might be because it's shorter and fluffy so it doesn't have many details but if you want like long platonic ones, let me know.
Have a good day, I love you! :)
