Doyoung x Haechan
"You hate me!"
Doyoung freezes, eyebrows knotting, blinking in confusion at the upset male. "What?"
Haechan sinks to the ground and pulls his knees up to his chest. He trembles as tears leak down his face.
He sniffles. "You hate me."
"No, I don't."
The defense in Doyoung's tone is high, not simply because he wants to tell the boy he's wrong but that he couldn't be even more wrong.
Doyoung doesn't understand what he'd done to upset the boy and cause him to jump to such a conclusion.
"You act like it."
His voice is quiet but his words are strong enough to punch him. A churning feeling settles in his stomach as guilt captures him, acting as his own personal thunder cloud.
Doyoung sits down next to the male and peers over, trying to make him look up into his concerned eyes.
"What on Earth makes you think that?"
"You don't like being around me, you don't like talking to me, you always complain about how rude, annoying, and, or, weird I am. How can I think you like me?"
Multiple things run through Doyoung's mind, all of which he's tempted to say but he stops himself. Those things can wait.
"I'm sorry."
He stops his sniffling and looks up, letting Doyoung get a full look at his puffy, red face.
Seeing the boy cry is breaking him up from the inside, especially it being his fault, but that doesn't stop him from finding Haechan adorable.
A trait he had discovered in their first month of friendship; no matter what, the boy is cute.
"What?"
"I'm sorry. I never meant to make you feel like I hate you or even dislike you. I'm sorry I didn't realize I was hurting you sooner."
Haechan doesn't say anything, focusing on the thick strip of paper he must've found on the floor. The only sound being their breathing and the crinkling of the paper.
Doyoung watches the paper get folded in random directions and unfolded, the process repeating. He looks at the boy and sees his eyes fixated on what he's doing.
He takes that as a sign he can keep talking.
"I'm not asking for forgiveness. I don't feel I deserve it but I wanna try to explain, if that's okay."
At first he thinks Haechan won't answer but he's mistaken when he when he finally says, "I won't stop you."
All the sadness is gone from his tone, anger replacing it.
Honestly, Doyoung is kinda scared.
It was one thing to make someone sad and deal with the consequences but anger was another. And he knew that if the boy wanted to, he could beat him up and break a bone in the process.
He knows Haechan isn't violent, preferring to have verbal confrontations, but that doesn't mean he couldn't decide to change it up, if just for the sake of letting his emotions go.
"It's not just you. I do get annoyed and upset and I do complain about it but it doesn't mean I don't like you. Though, maybe I've done it constant enough for you to think that. And I'm not gonna lie, you are weird. I'm weird too. Everybody's weird. I know I've probably said everything in a negative connotation and that hurts but I promise I don't mean it like that. I'm not sure you believe me but I really never wanted you think I hate you and it really hurts that I did make you feel this way."
