Johnny x Mark

If Johnny's being honest, one of the worse things you can say is 'Black Friday'. The one day where shopping is actually expected to be horrible. The frantic rushing around, long lines, the feeling of being a sardine squished into a can, it's something Johnny can do without.

But having a careful shopper boyfriend means that there's no way he can avoid it. Especially not when Marks eyes sparkle like stars and he bounces on his heels, adorably rambling on about the things he can buy.

"I'll be with you the whole time", Mark reminds him as they enter the store.

Johnny nods, not admitting how much he needs Mark to stick to that. Just being in the store fills him with anxiety, but the gentle thumb rubbing his hand, occasionally going over his knuckles helps keep him grounded.

It's almost normal, ignoring the fact that every place in the store has at least five people there. But Mark weaves them past everyone like it's second-nature. Johnny is too focused on his surroundings to even lay attention to what's being placed in the cart. Shopping is Marks thing.

They make their way around the store, Mark pointing out all the deals while Johnny makes sure to take deep breaths. After a few minutes, he's able to feel a temporary bit of relief. He looks around, now starting to care about what they get. When they pass the snack aisle, he places two things in the cart, causing Mark to smile at him. Marks smile relaxes him for the moment.

In the bakery section, he even begins to enjoy himself as he looks at all the choices, trying to keep himself from putting everything in the cart.

"What should we get?" He asks.

"Whatever you want."

"Mark!" He whines, looking up at the male.

Mark chuckles and moves over to him, speeding up his heart. It slows down just a little when he feels Marks hands on his face and Mark tugs him down to rest their heads against each other.

"You're so cute."

"You too."

"I love you."

"I love you too", Johnny mumbles, staring at Mark with all the love he feels.

Mark gives him a brief kiss and then moves back over to the head of the cart, leaving the taller male pouting from the loss. Mark chuckles and gestures for Johnny to pick something. Not being able to decide, Johnny suggests a frozen lemon creme pie and ice cream.

"Anything for you."

Luckily, the aisle isn't too full and the frozen desserts are at the end so it's not too hard getting the ice cream and pie. After they're done, Mark navigates them past the checkout lanes to the self-checkout at the end, knowing it'll make Johnny feel better. Unfortunately, the self-checkout line is just as long as the regular lines.

When he sees Mark looking through their cart for the third time, nerves crawl back into the pit of Johnny's stomach, unsettling him.

"What are you looking for?" He asks, wondering if his boyfriend can hear how nervous he is.

"I think I forgot something." Mark moves stuff aside, confirming the item missing. He looks up at Johnny. "Do you think you can handle me going to get it?"

Johnny swallows his opposition, not wanting to burden Mark with his anxiety any further, and nods. Mark waits for a seconds and then disappears into the crowd of people. Slowly, the line starts to move. It's fine until Mark still isn't back. And he has the coupons and the most money on him.

Johnny looks over the heads over people, trying to spot his boyfriend amongst the crowd. He thinks he does but if that is Mark, then he's practically stuck. And even if he could get to self-checkout, families and their carts are in the way so he still can't get to Johnny.

As he gets to the checkout machine, he has no choice but to pay for the items and hope Mark gets back to him soon. It feels too claustrophobic for Johnny to be in there much longer.

After he pays, he waits at the front of the store. It's fine for one minute but then there's bunches of people trying to get past him, some glaring at him for being in their way. Johnny wants to cry, not meaning to anger these people or have them all put their attention on him.

He moves out of the way and over to the bench, glad that no else is sitting on it. He holds the cart in place with his foot and shuts his eyes, trying to block out the discomfort of being in the store and the anxious thoughts doing their best to make him lose sight of reality.

But he misses Mark.

It's probably been ten minutes at most, but it's too much. Johnny never feels as okay as he does when Mark's with him and right now, he can't even remember what 'okay' feels like.

He's not sure how long he waits there, trying to remember what it feels like his body isn't tense and on-guard, and he actually feels at peace, before he feels a person next to him. He opens his eyes and finds Mark looking at him in concern. Johnny throws himself into the males arms, breathing the familiar scent, feeling Marks warmth.

"Finally", he mumbles into his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry, baby. I couldn't get through the line so I had to wait and then I didn't see you anywhere in there so I checked out here."

"What did you even buy?"

"I'll show you at home."

"You're gonna make me wait, really?"

"It feels better receiving it when you feel better. Come on."

Mark stands up and tugs on Johnnys hand, getting Johnny to stand up too. Johnny thinks they're gonna go right away, but they don't as Mark guides his head down to place kisses all over his face. Johnny doesn't mean to release tears from the action, but he can't stop them. Mark frowns at the sight of his precious boyfriend crying and kisses each tear away, sometimes apologizing afterwards. When Johnny stops crying, Mark places more kisses over his face, saving the last one for his lips.

"I'm not mad at you", Johnny mumbles quietly.

"Are you sure?"

"It's a crowded place."

"I'm still sorry, baby. I love you so much, okay?"

Johnny nods. "I love you too."

Mark waits a few seconds before letting go of Johnnys face to wrap his arms around the males torso, pressing his face against the boys chest and squeezing him as tight as he can. Johnny hugs him back, feeling glad for the familiar pressure of his boyfriend hugging him. He knows they're still at the store, that there's probably tons of people he hasn't noticed judging him, but just for these few seconds, with Mark in his arms, be feels okay.

When Johnny is ready, he lets go of Mark, only to grab his hand. Mark squeezes it. "Let's get out of here."
