Enjoy :)
Jaemin cannot think of a single time where someone told him not to get them a gift and he listened. Even when someone insists they don't want anything, they don't care, or they simply don't know, Jaemin still comes up with at least two items to give them, even if it's just their favorite candy and a gift-card. He never expects that much back, just maybe a hug or like, clear gratitude. Jaemin doesn't really care about gifts, not anymore. He's learned that not everyone shows love in this way and that's fine with him, he just wants to make the people he loves happy.
It's December and that means Christmas season and Christmas season includes some of Jaemin's favorite activities: decorating, baking (and eating) Christmas desserts, drinking way too much hot chocolate, and of course, buying and then wrapping presents. Jaemin keeps a running list of gift ideas for everyone he knows all throughout the year, but things don't get that serious until November where he kind of loses his ability to save money. It's for a good cause, right?
In Jaemin's unorganized budget, he had just enough to put together a gift basket for his favorite neighbor, the older woman next door who always speaks to him, offers him flowers, and took time to teach him how to make a handful of foods that Jaemin loves.
He has just left the woman's house after a nice chat over a cup of tea when he notices a familiar car parked by the curb. His face pinches together in confusion, he didn't know anyone was coming over. Entering the house, he can hear footsteps in the kitchen and then a few seconds later, his best friends face appears.
"What are you doing?" Jaemin asks.
"Came to drop something off", Jeno answers, walking over to Jaemin while drying Jaemins favorite mug.
Jaemin looks around. "What is it?"
Jeno points to Jaemins tree in the corner. "There."
Jaemin blinks in confusion. It's not that he's never seen gifts under his tree before, his family is always sure to send him things and his mom is always over to make sure that he doesn't open them before he's supposed to (not that Jaemin would, he loves seeing presents under his tree), along with the ones for his friends, he's just not used to those presents being from his friends. And definitely not gift-wrapped and wrapped in ribbon.
"Why?"
"Why not?"
Sometimes, Jaemin should really know better than to expect Jeno to be helpful. He rolls his eyes and walks into his kitchen, pulling out his box of various hot chocolate flavor packets. Jaemin starts making his own while he waits for Jeno to appear next to him and place a packet in front of Jaemin.
The request is followed by, "There's more."
"Huh?"
"The others are coming over."
"When?"
There's a jingling sound from the living room, followed by their friends loud but muffled chatter. Jeno grins. "Now."
Jaemin goes into his living room, getting, once again, stunned by the sight before him as he watches his friends take turns placing nicely wrapped gifts under his tree. "Who are those for?"
Renjun laughs, but Donghyuck is the one to answer. "You, silly."
"What?"
"He's having a hard time processing", Jeno explains for Jaemin, patting his back.
"He'll get it eventually", Renjun responds, walking past them. "Guys, there's hot chocolate!"
That snaps Jaemin out of it. "Don't drink all of it!"
