Chapter 9

Hope's POV:

After I dropped James at the house I headed back to the barn and as I was untacking Winter, Matt came in.

"Hey, your back."

"Yes, sorry for the worry."

Matt laughed, "We are all just glad that Sgt. Barnes is still alive."

"Okay, once it happened once and it was an accident and Tyler was fine afterward, when are you guys going to let it go already."

"Yeah, that is never going to happen."

"Is the trailer ready for tomorrow?"

"Yes, boss, everything is stocked and ready for the trip back."

"Thank you, I will leave things in your capable hands while I'm gone, also keep my dad away from the construction because knowing him, he will try to change things, if you have trouble just call my mom and she will take care of him."

"No worries boss, we will take care of things here while you're gone, you just concentrate on bringing that little guy back here."

"Okay, well I saw Mrs. Williams's car parked up front, let's go see what she's cooking for dinner."

I took Winter back to the pasture where Midnight was waiting for her.

"Alright Romeo here is your Juliet," I laughed as I watched them walk away together, then Matt and I headed to the house, when I got inside I was not expected to be bombarded by everyone all once, I immediately let out a loud whistle getting everyone to stop.

"Okay, what the hell is going on here?"

Mom and Dad said nothing as they led me to the office where Dad closed the door.

"Sweetie, we just wanted to make sure you were okay after earlier," Mom told me, I knew what she was talking about.

I squeezed her hand in reassurance, "Yes Mom, I'm okay now I promise."

Dad finally spoke, "So I hear you are going to Texas tomorrow, by yourself, is that a good idea."

"Dad, I'm not going by myself anymore, James offered to come with me and I said yes.

"Are you sure that's a good idea, why don't you have one of the guys go with you," he asked me.

"Because I need them here to look after the ranch and get things ready for the horse when I get back, also Dad, you are staying far away from the construction on the training arena you got that."

"What! Why?"

"Because I know how nosey you are and will want to start making changes which I appreciate but don't need."

Mom laughed at Dad pouting, "Don't worry sweetie, I will keep him in line while you away."

"Thank you, Mom."

At that moment FRIDAY came on.

FRIDAY: Mrs. Williams says that dinner is ready.

"Thank you, FRIDAY," I got up, Mom and Dad following behind me as we left the office and made our way to the dining room where everyone was helping set the table and bring the food out.

I saw Mrs. Williams come in with a large plate full of steaks, "wow, you certainly went all out tonight."

She laughed, "well you have guests dear and we have to host right, will you be needing anything else," she asked.

I nodded, "You can always join us, I'm sure you made more than enough."

"Thank you, Hope, but I need to get going and you be safe on your trip got it."
