Chapter 65

Several months passed on the ranch, and with it summer. Fall has started with the air cooler and the leaves changing colors. Besides the weather changing many more changes have happened at the ranch too with more to come.

Hope's POV:

"EMMA!"

I had my back turned for just a moment while I grabbed a change of clothes for Emma and when I turned around she was gone.

"GOT HER!"

A moment later Jamie walks in with Emma in his arms, he hands her over to me.

"One runaway baby."

I couldn't help but laugh, "No joke, ever since she started crawling she's only gotten faster and she is close to walking soon, and when that happens all hell is going to break loose," I tell Jamie.

I put Emma on the changing table and worked quickly to get her changed. Once I was done and set her back down and she quickly took off, both Jamie and I laughed as we walked behind her.

We entered the living room and after Jamie sat down I plopped down resting my head on his lap, I had my eyes closed when I felt a weight land on my stomach, I opened my eyes and saw Alpine curled up on top of me, I reached over and scratched her ear becoming lost in thought.

"Are you okay?" Jamie asks.

"Yeah, just been tired lately."

"Is it the nightmares again?"

I give Jamie a reassuring smile, "No, I promise, I've been working on the party for Emma's first birthday."

"Can't believe that's coming up already."

"Mm, yeah, time can go by in the blink of an eye, and I for one am not ready for Emma to turn one, I mean look how big she's already gotten, even Alpine and Auggie are bigger too."

"All part of growing up," Jamie says.

"Well I want her to stop, or at least slow down," I pouted making Jamie laugh.

He leaned down giving me a soft loving kiss.

"How's the party planning coming, have you picked out a theme yet?"

"So many ideas but I've decided to go with a unicorn theme for Emma's first birthday."

Jamie gave me a shocked look, I narrowed my eyes at him.

"What is that look for?"

"What look, I did not give any specific look," Jamie tried to feign ignorance.

"Liar, you gave me a look, out with it."

Jamie chuckled, "Okay, fine, just so you know I had nothing to do with this, but there was a betting pool started, by your dad may I add, that you were going to do either a pony or cowgirl theme for Emma."

I laughed, "Of course he would, who took part in that?"

"Everyone minus your mom, Mrs. Williams, and Morgan."

"What about you?"

"Nah, I have better things to do than take part in a betting pool like that."

"Mm-hm, likely story, but whatever, and I think I'll save a pony or horse theme for when she is bigger and can ride without me in the saddle with her."

"Okay, so what do you have planned for the party?"

I took my phone out of my pocket and pulled up the Pinterest board I created with ideas for Emma's unicorn theme birthday party. As I was showing Jamie what ideas I wanted to use, Emma crawled over to the couch and stood up.

"Mama!"

I looked over and Emma broke into a huge smile when she saw she got my attention.

"Aw, come here my little ladybug," I reached over took Emma into my arms, and settled her on top of me next to Alpine who was snoozing away.

"Is someone excited for her big day?" Jamies asked Emma who squealed in delight making us laugh.

"I'd take that as a yes."

"Hey, have you thought about what Kaitlyn said in her last letter to you?" Jamie suddenly asked.

"Yeah, I've given it some thought and I've made an appointment with Dr. Grey to go over what she found."

"So there is something that I wanted to talk to you about and I hope you don't get mad with me for doing this."

I looked up at Jamie, "What is it?"

"I made a call to Shuri in Wakanda, she was the one who helped get rid of everything that HYDRA had done to me, and I asked her if she would be able to help you, Wakanda is so technologically advanced and thought they would also help you with this."

I became quiet at hearing what Jamie said, I could feel the tears in my eyes, "You did this, for me?"

"I would do anything to make you happy."

"What did she say?"

"Shuri said that she would be all too happy to help and is waiting for you to call her when you are ready."

"Do you believe they would be able to help me in Wakanda?"

"Yeah, I think with what Dr. Grey tells you and Shuri's help you will be healed and able to have kids one day."

"And are you ready for that step, I know we have moved fast with everything that has happened and Emma's adoption," Jamie cut me off at that moment.

"I have been ready for a long time, being here with you and Emma in this ranch feels right, it feels like I'm home and there is nowhere else I would rather be."

"Okay then, I will call Shuri after I see Dr. Grey."

By then, Emma decided to lay across my chest while Alpine decided to curl up against my shoulder and neck, giving Emma room. Jamie and I continued to look through my Pinterest board to go over what we would like to incorporate into the party when we suddenly heard a high-pitched bark. We both looked over and saw Auggie sitting next to Jamie's leg whining, we chuckled as Jamie reached down and picked up Auggie setting him on his lap.

"You know all we are missing now are the horses."

"Don't even think about it," Jamie said sternly making me laugh.

"I'm kidding, come on and help me pick things out for the party."

"Alright, alright."

Jamie and I continued to look over everything and decide on what we both liked. The entire time neither of us noticed that we were being watched.

"They all look so cute together," Pepper cooed when she saw them all together on the couch.

"Yeah, glad to see they are where they belong at last, together, as a family," Wanda said.

Pepper and Natasha looked at Wanda and noticed her eyes were glowing but she was smiling, Pepper reached over and gently touched Wanda's shoulder. Wanda broke out of her trance and looked up at Pepper.

"Were they happy?" Pepper asked.

"Very, but I also did see certain events, some good and some bad but they will get through it all, together."

"Thank you, Wanda."

"Of course, they both deserve to be happy and loved."

"Come on you two, let's go before they notice us," Nat whispered to them.

The girls quickly left and headed outside, leaving the little family be.
