Hope's POV:
For once I don't know how long I ended up having a dreamless night and I didn't wake up until my alarm went off. I turned it off and got up to get dressed and brush my teeth when I finished I grabbed the bag I packed and headed for the kitchen to get some breakfast and coffee.
I was finishing up making some eggs, bacon, and toast when James entered the kitchen.
"Good morning, how did you sleep last night?"
"Surprisingly good for the first time in I don't know how long."
I smiled and pointed at the food, "There is enough for you as well and coffee is ready too."
"Thanks."
"Once we are done eating we'll go load up the truck and attach the trailer to it," James nodded as we started eating.
Once we finished with breakfast we cleaned up then grabbed our stuff and headed for the truck, James put our stuff in the back seat while I went to the barn to grab the last few items I needed then stopped at the Winter and Midnight's stalls to say bye to them.
"Alright you two, I will be back but while I'm gone behave both of you and don't cause too much trouble," both horses whinnied and nudged me as I kissed them goodbye and headed for the truck.
"Okay, now we just need to hitch the trailer to the truck and we can be on our way."
"Where is the trailer?"
I pointed over to the other side of the round pen next to the barn.
"Go and stand next to it so that you can guide me to hook it up," James nodded and walked to the trailer while I got inside the truck and turned it on. I got the truck in position and kept James in my site in the review and side mirrors as he guided me to the trailer, once I was close enough he stopped me and got the trailer attached to the truck then got inside with me.
"Ready for the next best 10 hours of your life?" I smiled at James making him laugh at my statement.
"Ready if you are," he returned the smile, I could tell it was not his genuine smile but that was okay for now.
We set out for the next 10 hours driving through Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, we made a few rest stops for food, gas, and the bathroom. We finally arrived in Austin a little after 5 pm, I drove us to a hotel that was close to the rescue that had the pony.
"Okay James, wait here for me while I get us checked in."
Unfortunately, the hotel did not have any single rooms so I had to opt for one with two queen size beds, I was glad that my dad was not here or I'm sure he would have had an aneurysm if he found out that James and I had to share a room, I headed back to the truck to get James and our stuff.
"Good news, I got us a room, bad news they did not have single rooms so we are sharing tonight."
James stuttered a bit, "Wait, what, a-are you sure this is okay?"
"James it's fine, it's for one night only now let's go take our stuff to the room and go get dinner because I don't know about you but I am starving."
I heard him chuckle as he grabbed his bag, I grabbed mine and we headed up to the room, when we got in I immediately crashed into the first bed.
"Oh, am I tired after this long-ass drive," I turned to look at James and could tell that he was getting a little flustered.
"I gonna go ahead and head back downstairs, I need to check in at the ranch, when your ready meet me down there, and then we go grab dinner," James said nothing only nodded at me as I got up grabbing my purse and phone.
