Chapter 53

Bucky's POV:

After I left Hope's room I had gone back to mine and got showered and dressed. Afterward, as I was heading outside I got stopped by some questioning looks from everyone when they saw me.

"What?"

"You sure are up late today?" Nat asked giving me her signature look.

I then looked at Steve, "Did they also question you too?"

"I don't know what you're talking about Bucky, I was up early this morning for my usual morning run," Steve said trying to act innocent.

"Oh, you are not pulling that shit buddy," I looked at everyone else and told them everything that had happened last night, though I left out the part of me spending the night with Hope in her room.

"Wait, so you two got to see the mare have her twins?" Wanda asked.

"Yeah, it was amazing," Steve said.

I then looked at him, "Wait, you didn't go back to sleep afterward?"

"No, I wasn't as tired so I did go on my morning run after Matt and the rest of the guys had arrived," Steve told me.

"Oh," as I was looking around I noticed that Hope was not in the house, normally I could hear her wherever she was in the house, "Where's Hope?"

"She went outside with Emma and Morgan?" Pepper said.

"How did she seem to you when you saw her?"

"Sad, of course, but I still don't think it's completely hit her, and it seems that Kaitlyn and Daniel's attorney called her earlier," Pepper said.

"Did she say what for?"

"He wants to go over their last will and testament with her," Pepper explained.

I said nothing more and walked out the door. As I stood out on the porch I saw that Hope was in the training pen with Winter and Midnight and that she had Morgan and Emma with her. And from what I could tell she was doing some liberty work with them, and at the moment she looked so calm and serene but I felt that was more for the benefit of the girls and horses.

"She looks too calm out there."

I turned and saw that Tony was next to me.

"What do you mean?" I asked Tony.

"I mean that I'm worried for her, that she might snap one of these days and I'm scared to lose her, Hope is my entire world and I would do anything to keep her safe."

"Tony, I don't think your need to worry too much, Hope knows that we are all here for her."

"Thank you, for looking out for her Barnes," Tony turned to head back inside but stopped and turned back, "Make sure you take good care and cherish her heart, because if you hurt my little girl in any way, even Wakanda will not be able to hide you from my wrath."

I was silent and stunned for a moment, "What are you talking about?" I tried to play dumb.

"Please, why does everyone think I'm blind and didn't notice the immediate attraction between you two, I know Hope, and she has never once shown interest in anyone, neither guy or girl, but the moment she first saw you I knew that something would come of this, I'm just surprised it took this long."

"And you're okay with this?"

"I only care that Hope is loved, cherished, and protected as she deserves to be, can you do that, Barnes?"

I nodded yes.

"Good," Tony then headed back inside without another word.

I then walked over to the training pen and just watched Hope in her element.
