Chapter 71

Hope's POV:

I walked out to the front porch with a mug of coffee and saw that we had our first snowfall last night. Meaning fall has left us and winter is now here. The house is still fairly quiet, probably due to last night's Thanksgiving dinner, leading everyone into food comas. I took a seat on the porch swing taking in the scenery and its beauty. As I sat there my mind wandered to earlier this week.

After putting it off for so long I made my appointment with Dr. Gray. During the appointment she had me go through an entire workup of tests. Afterward, she went through the results with me and I was met with some surprising news.

*EARLIER IN THE WEEK*

"Wait, are you certain, Dr. Gray?"

"Yes, Hope, it's all here, all the scans showed the same conclusion, your uterus is healed, and the damage that was there initially, is healed, with minimal scarring."

"So, does that mean that I can get pregnant, I can carry a baby to full term?"

"Yes, Hope."

I could feel the tears as they ran down my cheeks, I couldn't believe that the dream I thought I would never get to make a reality was now possible.

"Thank you, Dr. Gray, thank you so much."

Dr. Gray also had tears in her eyes, she got up walked around her desk, and pulled me into a hug.

"Oh Hope, there is no need to thank me, I only hope that the next time I see you here will be to confirm the little bundle of joy that will be on the way."

"Me too."

*BACK TO THE PRESENT*

"Hey, there you are, I was wondering where you went off to this morning?"

I looked up and it was James.

"Morning, I see you finally decided to wake up."

James laughed, "I was just as surprised at how full I was last night, that was a feast that Mrs. Williams made."

I laughed too, "Yes, Thanksgiving and Christmas, she likes to go all out."

James groaned, "Oh no, but it will be a sacrifice I am all too happy to make."

He leaned into me and captured my lips with his, after a moment we pulled away and I cuddled into him as we sat together.

"James, there is something I need to tell you."

"What's up?"

"You know how I had that appointment with Dr. Gray earlier this week?"

"Yeah, how did that go?"

"Well, I got some news."

"Are you okay, you're not sick are you?" James began to panic.

"Calm down, everything is fine, everything is perfect. Dr. Gray ordered me to have labs and scans done."

James took my hand squeezing it gently, "What did she find?"

"The damage that my uterus suffered after the attack is gone, it is healed."

"Wait, so does that mean what I think it does?"

I turned to look at him, "Yes, I can have a baby, we can have a baby, whenever we are ready for that next step together."

James pulled me into a hug, "That is wonderful news, Doll, looks like this family will be growing even more."

"Yeah, looks like we won't have to take that trip to Wakanda anymore."
