Hope's POV:

I shot up awake confused by how I got to my room, it took me a minute to realize that I was awoken by an alarm, I looked for my phone to shut it off but I couldn't find it.

"FRIDAY, where is my phone?"

FRIDAY: It's not your phone, miss, and I am sorry for waking you like this even more after the evening you had but something is happening in the barn.

"What do you mean, what's going on, are the horses okay?"

I got out of bed quickly and noticed I was still in my clothes from yesterday so I looked for my shoes and put them on while FRIDAY spoke.

FRIDAY: The horses are safe miss, it's the pregnant mare, it seems she is in distress at the moment.

"Shit, is she standing or laying down in her stall?" I asked FRIDAY.

FRIDAY: She is laying down.

"She must be going to labor, FRIDAY, where is my phone?"

FRIDAY: The boss left it on your nightstand after he put you to bed.

I looked at my two nightstands and found it, I grabbed it and ran out of the house as I dialed Scott.

"Come on, pick up, Scott, please," I suddenly got a sleepy hello.

"Hello?"

"Scott, oh thank God, I need you to get here immediately, the mare has gone into labor."

"Okay, Hope, you know what to do but just make sure that she is calm, alright, I will be there soon.

"Alright, just hurry, please."

"I will see you in a few."

We hung up as I got to the barn and opened the door as quickly as I could and ran inside to get to the mare. When I arrived at her stall she was laying down, I ran and got the vet medical kit bringing it back with me.

"Hey, hey, your okay girl, your okay."

The mare cried out in pain.

"I know, but soon you're going to have your babies with you and I'm sure you will be happy to not be pregnant anymore with twins."

The mare let out another whinny, and the first thing I did was wrap her tail to keep it clean and out of the way while she was in labor, afterward, I took out a pair of gloves from the medical kit and when to check the foal's position. I breathed a sigh of relief when I felt the foal's nose between its two front legs meaning that it was in the correct position."

"Alright Mommy, now all we can do is wait, but let's just hope for both our sakes that Scott gets here soon."

The barn was pretty quiet while I waited for Scott to arrive, the only sounds I heard were the grunts the mare was making, probably from the contractions. As I sat there with her to keep her calm and I was absentmindedly stroking as I kept thinking over names for the mare and I kept coming back to one, Athena.

"Athena," I said out loud and the mare looked up to me, "Do you like it?"

"I know I do and I think it suits her too."

I looked up from where the voice was coming from and saw that it was Scott.

"You made it, thank God."

"You look like you had everything handled," Scott said.

"On the outside maybe but I was panicking on the inside."
