"What sort of cesspool is this?" Alastor grumbled under his breath, taking in the surroundings of the decrepit building as they stepped inside."I know, it could really use a fresh coat of paint." Lucifer joked, kicking over a pile of debris as they sauntered through the main floor.
"I'll get Niffty right on it." Alastor said sarcastically. "Just out of curiosity..." He began, Lucifer hummed in response as they trudged down the stairs. "What do you plan on doing about them?"
Lucifer sighed heavily. "I haven't decided. Val is vital for Pride's economy, and Vox pretty much runs half of the entertainment industry and him along with Velvet keep everything up to date; so I'd rather them not be erased if I can help it. Punishment for overlords isn't exactly cut and dry. Rules are difficult to implement- especially since chaos has mostly free reign here. But needless to say it will be more than just a stern talking to."
They turned the corner and entered the first room, finding a sore and very grumpy coyote tied up and laying on the floor.
"Well good sir, I can't say that I'm happy to see you, but I'm quite pleased at the state they left you in!" Alastor chuckled heartily.
Shane rolled his eyes. "So what? You're just gonna erase me now?"
"Oh no no no, get comfortable for now. We're waiting on some of your friends; after that, I had something in mind for you." The stag grinned wickedly, his eyes narrowed devilishly. He then looked over to Lucifer. "Of course, if you don't mind me taking him off your hands."
"He's all yours, Al." Lucifer snickered. "Now then." He said eyeing Shane with disgust and cruel amusement. "When do you suppose our lovely acquaintances will return, hmm?"
"Bite me." Shane muttered.
"Gladly." Al quipped.
"Now boys~,"
Lucifer used his magic to prop Shane up into a sitting position and stepped closer to him, leaning down to be at eye level. "No sense in bickering. I asked you a question, and I have ways of getting answers.
Shane gazed into the kings eyes, and despite Lucifers charming and coy smile his eyes gave off an ominous feeling; one of ambiguity, power and irritation that almost sent a chill down the coyotes spine. He swallowed hard before answering. "I don't know when. Probably soon, I don't know."
Alastor huffed in annoyance. "They probably don't even know she's gone yet."
"I suspect it's only a matter of time before they come back to check on her then." Lucifer replied, his grin widening. "Sit tight, my good man."
~~~~~flashback~~~~~
"Why do we think of others the most after they're gone?" Alastor asked, holding you close to him as it rained around the two of you. You listened to the soft beating of his heart in his chest, slow and steady, just like how you two swayed to the sound of the falling rain.
You looked up at him, his eyes glowing dimly in the dark of the woods surrounding you; accommodated by the faint lights on the gazebo a short distance away. The rain disguised any tears on either of your faces as you gazed upon each other.
