"How early?" A voice had asked.
"I can't say for sure. But I will tell you they're not exactly thrilled at the climbing number of sinners lately with this over population problem and we have reason to believe they're getting antsy. They know sinners are likely to hide when they have a warning, so they could easily take out more numbers if they're not expecting it." Lucifer said grimly. "I suggest you look after your own and lay low until this blows over. Get what you need, warn who you need to, and take care."
"You do realize some of us have businesses to run, we can't afford to just hide away for who only knows how long." Val grumbled.
"It's either make small sacrifices for a short while, or risk larger and longer lasting consequences." The king said simply, visibly unamused. "The choice is yours, don't shoot the messenger."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I think we should warn Charlie." You said simply, walking down the winding sidewalks with your arm linked around Alastor's.
"Wouldn't Lucifer have told her?" He asked looking over at you.
"For some reason, I doubt it. But hey, you work there, so it's probably in yours and Charlie's best interest to give her a heads up anyway. Just so she's not in the dark."
"Very well." He stated, briefly looking at his pocket watch before placing it back in his coat pocket. "After that I'd like to return home and see if we can start honing in on your powers again."
"You think I'm ready?" You smirked. 'Bout time.
His smile widened as he pulled you a smidge closer to him. "At least to see if you still have the basics down, and then we'll go from there. But we can't keep putting it on the back burner. After that~" he chuckled and spun you, your skirt twirling with you as he did so; you couldn't help but giggle at him. "I'm making dinner, and you and I are going to do whatever you'd like."
"Jeez hun, maybe I should slip into a coma somewhat regularly if it means I'll get all this special treatment when I come out of it." You teased. "Not that I don't appreciate it, of course."
He let out a soft huff of amusement as he looked down at the sidewalk then back up at you. "We'll talk more about that later. But for now, let's go pay Charlie and those loathsome sinners a visit!" And with that, he took your hand and you were both immediately teleported in front of the main hotel entrance.
Alastor opened the door and gestured for you to walk through. "Ladies first, darling."
You grinned and stepped through the threshold of the hotel, hearing the door shut behind you as Al followed in your wake.
"I'M BACK ON MY FEET WHICH MEANS YOUR LIVES JUST GOT BETTER- OR WORSE, DEPENDING ON WHO I AM TO YOU~!" You shouted, your voice carrying throughout the first floor of the hotel. You could hear Alastor laugh behind you, and soon the sound of scampering footsteps coming from a couple different directions.
Angel was the first to run in.
"She lives, everyone hide!!" He laughed, coming up and giving you a brief hug, whispering lowly in your ear as Charlie came into view at the far side of the room. "Enjoy your present yet?"
You giggled. "Not yet, maybe later."
He pulled away with a smirk, Charlie hugging you right after. You couldn't even be annoyed with the affection anymore, you were slowly coming to expect it from them.
"How is everything?" You asked as Charlie pulled away from you, Vaggie at her side now and offered a gentle wave.
"Great! We have some people that seem interested in checking in!! As a matter of fact, uhm... That woman who-"
"Molly?" You asked blankly.
"Yeah..." she chuckled nervously, clearing her throat. "She's a new patient here as well."
You nodded with a soft, somewhat forced smile. "Well, I'm glad some good came out of that little ordeal. And I'm happy for you, Charlie. You deserve this."
She grinned, you could see her rosy cheeks becoming even more pink as excitement rose to her face. It almost broke your heart that you were about to shatter that happy expression.
"We have some news, I'm afraid. We aren't sure if you've spoken to your father recently..."
Yup, there it is. Her face already fallen slightly from dismay. "No, I haven't." She said quietly.
Alastor took the upper hand of the conversation and spoke up, you silently thanked him for it. "He has reasons to believe they might be planning the cleanse early this year. To erase a higher number of sinners by catching them off guard."
Charlies face contorted into an expression of concern, perhaps even a hint of aggravation.
"Can they just do that?" Vaggie asked, folding her arms across her chest.
You and Al both shrugged. "Seeing as it's not up to Lucifer or Satan or anybody down here, they can do as they please." The stag said; an air of annoyance around him as he spoke.
"We wanted to warn you. He suggested to lay low until this blows over, we suggest you pass the message onto Husk and Niffty and whomever may be staying here." You added.
Charlie nodded, hugging herself slightly as she digested the unwelcome news. She truly hated these yearly cleanses. She cared about the denizens of Hell, she didn't want them erased... just poof, gone, as if they never existed or meant anything at all...
"Y/n dear, do you mind if I go have a chat with them for a moment?" Alastor asked looking down at you, sensing Charlie's disposition and presumably needed to discuss some things work related seeing as he hadn't been here in the past two weeks.
You nodded. "Of course, go right ahead. I'll be wandering around the place until you're done." You giggled.
He smiled and planted a soft, quick kiss on your cheek and squeezed your hand that he was holding before stepping away, leading the two down one of the winding halls to what you assumed was Charlie's office. You looked over at Angel.
"Wish I could hang, toots but I gotta go meet up with Cherry." He shrugged, inching past you as he walked over to the door.
"And leave me here all by my lonesome? Angel, how could you?" You teased. "Be safe, take care. If shit goes south call me, okay?"
"You got it babe. Thanks." He grinned, his gold tooth twinkling from the reflection of the light above you two as he made his exit. You smiled and sighed, looking about the now empty foyer around you.
"Oh Molly~! Where are you?" You quietly sang out as you skipped merrily down one of the halls.
