"How is he? Is he oka-"

"He's fine." You interrupted gently.

You had stepped out of the room so Viola could locate it easier, figuring you were easier to notice than the number on a door. The others had left about an hour ago, you reassured them that you would keep them updated on Alastor's condition. "He's napping right now," you continued. "they had to do emergency surgery and a blood transfusion but he's going to be okay."

A smile crept across her face, placing a hand over her heart as she let out a gentle sigh of relief. "Can I see him?"

"Of course," you chuckled softly. "come on." You placed a gentle hand on her upper back as you opened the door to his room and ushered her inside, following close behind and shutting the door behind you.

"Oh sweetie..." she murmured, looking at the state of her son. She was relieved her suspicions were confirmed and that he had made it, but it still tugged at the poor woman's heartstrings to see him laying in a hospital bed. You sensed her bittersweet emotion and stood next to her.

"I know..." you hummed. "He was awake earlier. A little dopey from the morphine and lingering anesthesia but, he's okay. He should be more lucid the next time he wakes up."

You turned to look at her and she met your eyes, you offered a small but genuine smile as you spoke. "Thank you for your help. I see why Al aways talked so highly of you."

Her eyes crinkled as she smiled back, you chuckled and leaned to hug the woman. Who seemingly had the same idea as she hugged you back with an equal amount of compassion. "I wasn't going to let that asshat hurt my son again." She whispered.

You couldn't help but chuckle at her choice of words, shaking your head fondly as you pulled away from the embrace. "I heard you and Angel got him bound and tucked away."

"He's all yours and Al's, just don't tell me what you plan on doing." She sighed, raising her hands with outward facing palms to claim a sense of innocence.

"Can..." you started, you wanted to ask her something but you weren't quite sure how to ask it. So you figured it was better to just come right out and ask. "Can I ask... the others, they said you seemed eerily calm earlier when we had to bring him over here. What's up with that? Did you know he was gonna pull through?"

She sighed again and sat down in a chair beside his bed, pulling a second chair close to her and gestured for you to sit down beside her.

"I hope I'm not being rude," you continued, sitting down beside her and straightening out your shirt. "I'm just curious is all."

"You're fine, sugar." She said. "This might sound a bit strange, but... I've had this dream on and off for decades. Well, maybe more like a vision than a dream."

You nodded, silently urging her to continue. "And in that vision, I saw Alastor; dressed in black, standing at an alter. Awaiting a ravishing bride walking down the aisle in a beautiful black gown. I didn't know it then, but, that bride was you."

A ghost of a laugh fell from your lips as you nodded, taking in the words she just confessed to you. She smiled, placing a hand over yours. Her touch was warm, and her hands were incredibly soft.

"I hoped since you two weren't married yet, he would have to make it through." She smiled gently.

"How could I leave two of my favorite people behind?"

You smiled happily at the sound of your lovers voice. It was quiet, and very tired, but it was his. Viola immediately perked up and got out of her chair, reaching over the bed and hugging her son.
