Chapter forty six
Sawyer,

-

'Nathan, what on earth are you doing here?' I whispered as I knew my Dad was right inside.

A bazillion thoughts filled my mind. What if this was my well deserved karma? What if my father already figured it out and just verbally assaulted Nathan?

'You're not in there?' He asked, one finger pointing towards the house.

'No!' I laughed and tugged on to his arm, pulling him behind the bushes. 'My father's in there'

'Oh lord, I'm so sorry. I tried texting you and you weren't replying so I got worried' he looked so nervous which made my insides tingle slightly.

'I-I left my phone at home' I looked right into his emerald green eyes.

'I was worried, Lea. So worried' he wrapped both arms around my neck.

'I'm sorry' my index finger traced along his jaw. 'I was just a little conflicted but I'm fine now, okay?'

He nodded slightly.

'Did you actually drive here just because I didn't sound good via text?'

'Well, yeah. I thought I'd done something wrong and again, I was worried sick'

'I love you' I pressed my cheeks against his soft pink ones. It was crazy how to this day, whenever we kiss, it takes me back to the first time our lips touched. My insides go wild and I feel everything fluttering. My heart starts to race and I forget everything else in this world.

'I love you, Lea' he says in between kisses.

To think that just months ago I was mourning over him is crazy. Now, here I am, lips pressed against his, feeling like the luckiest person on the planet.

'You need to go, I need to go' I mumbled.

'Huh?'

'I meaaaan, it's not going to be long until my dad notices the car. Don't you think he'll be wondering where I am?'

'Nope, we could just sit here and make out under the stars' he smirked.

'Tempting, but I can't.' I gave him a kiss on the cheeks, 'I love you, Sykes'

-

'Thanks for dinner, dad'

'No worries, Sawyer. You sure you alright with cleaning up?' He asked, slightly concerned.

'Yes, I'm fine. You should get some rest. See you in the morning' I smile as my gaze goes back to the dishes that need to be washed.

Sure, cleaning up when you're dead tired isn't exactly the most enjoyable thing but he did need rest and I hated leaving the kitchen in a dirty state overnight.

After a good 40 minutes, the kitchen was spotless. I patted myself on the back, proud of what I've just done and realized that I probably looked like a complete freak. I laugh to myself and turn off the lights before heading upstairs to the bathroom.

I tie my hair up into a proper bun and start brushing my teeth. Then, I rinse my face right before squirting some face wash onto my hands and rubbing them all over my face. Leave it to me, to make weird faces to myself in the mirror with a face full of face wash.

Once done in the bathroom, I changed into some sweatpants and a faded graphic tee. I got into bed and checked my phone only to see all the messages Nathan had sent when he was worried about me.

>> Monkey Boy <<

Monkey Boy: Lea are you okay

Monkey Boy: please tell me the truth you know I wouldn't ever judge you

Monkey Boy: You're worrying me, you know?

Monkey Boy: You mean everything to me please I'll help you through anything, Lea

Monkey Boy: Please don't pretend like everything's okay when it isn't. I know you, Sawyer Lea Scott. And I know when you aren't okay

Monkey Boy: That's it. I'm coming over okay? I love you.

I smiled to myself before my fingers begin typing away on the keypad.

Me: I love you too

Me: Thank you for coming over - I needed it.

Within minutes, my phone started to vibrate again. That was fast.

Monkey Boy: Do you still need it?

Me: huh?

Monkey Boy: come down :)

Me: Nathan it's dark I'm in bed

Monkey Boy: Please, it's worth it. I promise.

Me: fine

I walked down slowly, in attempt of not being heard. Thankfully, the squeak on the front door was fixed a couple of days ago. I shut the door behind me and felt the instant breeze rush against my clearly-not-covered-with-enough-layers body.

'Fuck. Nathan where are you' I muttered as I walked to the back of the house.

His car was there... ?

'Hi' he hugged me from behind and I turned to face his green eyes. 'What is this, Nathan?'

He laced our fingers together and took me to the car. We both got in and I noticed that he pushed all the seats down - in the back and stuffed it with pillows and fuzzy blankets and his laptop was there. 'Can we have a sleepover?' His lips pouted and I smiled.

'Yes, yes we can' we both got into the back and he wrapped his arms around me - observant over the fact that I was freezing. 'You haven't changed, have you?' I questioned when we both settled.

'Hmm?' His eyebrows raised.

'Ever since the first night I spent with you, you always seem to ruin my sleep'

'Old habits' he smirked before saying, 'But you were awake' and poked my nose.

'That's not the point'

He placed his index finger on my lips and said, 'sssh. The point is, we're alone and it's dark and you're going to shut up and enjoy this moment'

'Thanks, Sykes' I said after a few minutes of silence. 'I did miss you'

'I'm here now' his breath fanned over my nose, yet so did the smell of cologne. I was planning to ask him about it but I was dozing off quickly. It put me to sleep instantly ; the smell of him being right beside me.
