I am exhausted from walking and tracking for a werewolf in these woods. I wonder what this werewolf even did to be on the monsters hunting list let alone on the top five wanted monsters. Well maybe I will ask Flin about it later, it's not the right time and I get the feeling he is hiding something from me but I don't know what it is that he is hiding. Flin looks so sirius and hur like something has happened to him.
Ash quickly pulled out the food that sat in her backpack and started seating up their meals. After their foods were set to eat, they ate their food and rested against some trees that sat behind them. Flin sat across from Ash and they stared at the sky, a sense of relief filled them as they rested from exhaustion. After a few more moments of relaxing, they went back to tracking the werewolf that they were hunting. After a few more hours of tracking, they stooped mid step and squatted to the ground in silence behind some bushes. Ash took deep breaths as she tried to stay calm and lower her heartbeat as she felt her heart beating slightly fast. She looked through the bushes to see some fur sticking on a fern bush in the distance along with a pack of mountain lions resting by a rock covering a small cave further in the distance. Flin quickly noticed that the cave, the rock and the pack of mountain lions were sitting on a small hill.
Flin asked in a low whispered voice as he pointed at the fur hanging off of the bush, "Here, you see this?"
Ash looked at the fur and asked in a whispered tone, "What am I looking at?"
Flin replied "You are looking at your very first werewolves fur. Now, You see how long the fur is almost like um... well here is an example, a girl with long hair that reaches six inches but this fur is more animal like."
Ash thought for a moment about what he was saying to her, she then said "Ok, I understand."
Flin smiled as he said "You are a bad liar you know that?"
Ash blushed with embarrassment as she said "It looks like ordinary wolf fur to me."
He said "Here is a better way to see the difference, smell the fur and tell me what you think it smells like."
Ash slowly grabbed the fur and held it up to her nose, she smelled the fur. The distinct smell of wet dog and human body odor filled her nostrils. A look of disgust filled Ash's face as she smelled and at that moment, she wished that she had never smelled the fur in the first place. Flin couldn't help but giggle at the look she gave and he thought to himself, well at least she knows the difference but she does have a more enhanced smell now that she is learning how to control the curse. It makes sense that all of her censuses have been amplified.
"I see, by any chance does the fur get lighter when the full moon is at its lowest, like a new moon that is happening tomorrow night?" asked Ash.
Flin replied as he got up from squatting from the ground "Wow, someone has been keeping up with their reading. How far did you get with the books that I gave you?"
Ash said "I finished with all of them and half of the books that I collected from the gladiator arena."
Suddenly, Flins mouth dropped in amazement and he said in a shocked voice, "You read all of those books already?" Ash nodded her head yes and he continued "Jesus Ash, I might have to get more books for you if this keeps up. By the way, isn't your birthday coming up, how old will you be?"
Ash said "How long has it been, almost a half of a year, that would make me about nine years old and I will be ten years old on my birthday."
"It's been a while hasn't it, time sure does go by quickly doesn't it?" Asked Flin as he watched Ash stand up from squatting.
