chapter eighty seven

I am not going to tell Jaff my plans on handing myself over to Thanatos so that he can be cured of whatever poison that he gave Jaff. I can't lose another person that I care about, I can't. I won’t lose another person that I have only started to have feelings for and I want to tell him how I feel before I leave this world.

Ash moved in her sleep as she dreamed that she was in the same void that she had dreamt the last time she had a dream. 

Tears streamed down Ash’s face as she yelled, “Why are you doing this? I am coming to you so why are you doing this?”

Thanatos slowly replied, “I wish you wouldn’t yell Ash, I will make you happy. I promise you Ash, you will never feel sad as long as you are with me. I only want to be with someone.”

Ash slowly asked “What do you mean, I know Nyx punished you but why do you mean?”

Thanatos replied, “I can only come to your world and back once and I am saving that for when you come Ash. Nyx destroyed my cristole that I had around my neck that my Hypons gave me when I came of age. That cristole allowed me to come to your world whenever, but now I can’t even do that.” 

Suddenly a voice rang out from the darkness that called out for her and in an instant Thanatos said “I will be waiting for you Ash.”

Ash quickly jolted up from her sleep as she panted heavily and noticed that Jaff was holding her closely to his chest with both arms wrapped around her. Ash slowly whimpered as she started to cry into Jaffs arms as the feeling of dread filled them.

Jaff stroked Ash’s back and said while trying to comfort her, “It's alright Ash… shhh. It's alright.”

Two hours later, Ash slowly wiped the tears from her face as they slowly got up from the dirt ground that was carved in pinecones and pine needles. Once Jaff was sure that Ash was almost completely calm he helped Ash onto her horse.

Jaff asked, “Are you going to be alright?”

Ash slowly said “Yea… I will be alright.”

Jaff slowly said as he got onto Wolf Fang's back silently, “Ok.”

He slowly followed Ash through the woods in silence as the feeling that there was something off filled them slowly. The trees that surrounded them that looked fresh with life instantly disappeared as what appeared to be dead trees took their place as they continued walking in silence.

After a few more moments of silence, Ash asked “Did Sara get someone to adopt her?”

Jaff smiled as he replied, “Yes, there was a She Vampire that adopted her. They signed some papers that said they will not turn her into a vampire until she comes of age and only if she asks for them to turn her.”

A faint smile came across Ash’s face as she said “That is good, maybe she will have a better life than what she had in the past.”

Jaff slowly looked around to see that all the plants looked dead and some of them looked as if they were raughting with the smell of decay. Jaff quickly curved his nose as the pungent smell filled his nostrils instantly and Jaff thought to himself, this place feels wrong.

Jaff asked, “Are we heading in the right direction Ash?”

Ash sighed as she replied, “Yes, we should be there by tomorrow. Don’t worry Jaff, we only have one more day to travel.”

Jaff sighed as he said “I’m sorry Ash, its just… this place… It feels…”

Ash quickly finished his sentence and said “Off.”

“Yea, I don’t know why but it just gives me the chills and the smell is pretty bad too.” Jaff said as he felt Wolf Fang's shoulders move from under his hands.

Jaff slowly noticed that Ash seemed to be nervous and scared at the same time, at that moment Jaff couldn't help but feel bad for her. Ash quickly noticed that the woods were dead silent as the overwhelming feeling of sadness, fear and nervousness filled her as they walked deeper into the dead forist.
