I am worried about Jeff. I slept all night last night, I thought he would wake me up for my shift but he never did. I wish there was a way I could get through to him and have him rely on me more. We should make it to the villagers camp by sunset.
Ash slowly woke up to the sensation of being moved from side to side. Slowly her eyes fluttered open to see that she was sitting on her horse, the smell of pine filled the air. She quickly looked around to see that there were animals following them, she quickly looked over at Jeff. he was riding next to Ash with his eyes focused on the road while animals started to follow them from the back, cutting them off from turning back.
Ash said nervously as she saw a bear walking beside them “Um… Jeff.”
“Oh, you're awake. I was worried you would sleep all day and not get to see the animals showing us the way to the village.” Jeff said with a smile as he looked back to the road.
After an hour of traveling they pulled off to the side of the road and stopped their horses instantly. Jeff and Ash looked at each other with a bright smile as they hugged each other in an embrace. Tears streamed down her face as she realized that the animals stopped in their tracks. They quickly released each other from their embrace and looked around to see that all the animals were staring at them while standing a few feet from them. They slowly continued to follow the road as Ash wiped the tears away and as soon as the horses started moving, the animals quickly followed close to them from every corner except for the front.
After walking a few miles Jeff asked “I have never seen you cry before except for last night, why is that?”
Ash replied “My mother… she um locked me in a hidden room spell that is similar to my backpack spell. I don't know when it started but when I misbehaved, she beat me. I remember the feeling of pain and blood that dripped down my skin. It scared me to the point that I wouldn’t cry, I think she beat me even when I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“You never cried after that.” Jeff said in understanding.
Ash said slowly, “Yea, I guess you could say she really messed me up in a way and did a number on me.”
“No… I don't think she messed you up Ash, I think she made you stronger back then and you are stronger now.” Jeff said with a smile and in an encouraging voice.
Ash asked “Can I… Can I ask you something?”
Jeff replied “You can ask me anything as long as it's not personal.”
She giggled for a moment as she asked “What do you know about Dragons Curse?”
“Not much about those types of curses, I only know that there are two types of curses in that category. There is the Dragon Shift curse and there is the Dragons curse but that is pretty much all I know.” Jeff said as he stared at the fire pit.
“I know pretty much everything there is to know about any curse, spells and any known living life form there is.” Ash said slowly in a low voice.
They quickly stopped their horses mid step in the middle of the road. In front of them stood a large group of people that almost looked like they were indians. They wore leaves around their chest and shoulders that stretched down to their knees. A few villagers wore flowers in their hair while the others had twigs sticking out of their heads like deer's antlers.
Ash asked slowly in a concerned voice, “Um… Jeff?”
“It's ok Ash, they are the villagers that we were looking for.” Jeff said in a low and calm voice.
Ash asked “Do they speak English at all?”
Jeff replied as he looked at Ash, “No they don't but I can be your translator.”
