We are so close to saving Ash and I  think my feelings have grown for Ash. I hope this spell will work and I will have a chance to tell her how I feel about her. I know she is eternally nineteen years old but I don’t even care at this point.

The next day, Jaff reached the Shrine City that was filled with people roaming the streets, homeless people sat on the ground with their hands cupping their heads with a miserable look on their faces. Jaff immediately thought to himself, this place looks like humans ruined this place, not Ash. There is no destruction so that means Ash isn’t here yet and I have some time to figure out a plan on how to get Ash to Fire Hill.

A young man came up to Jaff and asked “Excuse me young man?”

Jaff slowly turned to face the man that was standing behind him with a bright smile. He smiled as he showed his rotting teeth, Jaff instantly noticed that he was missing some of his teeth.

Jaff asked in confusion, “Can I help you?”

The man replied, “Try not to stay out too late at night, young man. There is a dragon coming here at night and everyone is ordered to stay inside until dusk.”

Jaff smiled as he asked “Thank you for warning me Sir, do you know what time she is supposed to be here.”

The man said in confusion, “She?”

Jaff swallowed as he replied, “I am sorry, I meant to say the dragon.”

The man sighed as he said “Look kid, we don’t know when the dragon is supposed to arrive. We only know that the dragon is supposed to arrive tonight.”

Jaff nodded his head in understanding and watched as the woman walked away from Jaff in annoyance. He slowly walked through the town so Jaff could get his bearings around the town. Jaff noticed that there were a lot of food stores and magic shops that surrounded every corner of every block. There were only nine houses throughout the entire city and Jaff was apprised to see that there were a lot of people living on the streets. The sun slowly got lower and lower by the hour until the sun disappeared behind the mountains. Jaff waited until he was the only person on the streets, he realized that there were bunkers underground and the homeless were staying in the bunkers. He quickly leapt into the air and landed on one of the black rooftops in a single bound.

Jaff said out loud to himself, “Alright, show time. Here we go.”

Two hours later, there was a loud, deep, guttural roaring sound in the distance. There was a sudden gust of wind that nearly knocked Jaff off of the rooftop and destroyed some of the shingles that were once perfectly lined with the roof. Jaff watched as some of the shingles were blown off of the roof in an instant, he quickly groped on tight to the crevices of the rooftop, his grip was so tight that his claws dug into the wooded shingles itself as the wind started to blow even harder for the longest moment. Suddenly, the wind immediately disappeared and Jaffs grip loosened from the wooden rooftop. He sighed in relief as the air felt as if it were much calmer than it was a few seconds ago. After a few moments, Jaff suddenly had a bad feeling as he looked ahead into the distance. He quickly saw what looked to be Ash flying towards the town with her wings spread out like a bird that was flying in the sky, she glided in the air with ease. In an instant, Jaff quickly hopped from rooftop to rooftop and went in the direction that Ash was coming from until he reached the last house. By the time Jaff reached the last house, Ash was only a few miles from the town.

Jaff stood still as he yelled with his hands cupped around his mouth, “Hey Ash!”

Ash instantly snapped her head towards Jaffs direction. Her gaze was fixed on him with an angry look in her eyes as she flew towards him and a sudden shiver down Jaffs spine. Jaff immediately knew that the person that was in control of Ash’s body was not Ash. Jaff noticed that Ash’s eyes were different as he thought to himself, that is not Ash’s eyes. She never had that evil look that was in her eyes at that moment. He immediately leapt onto the ground and quickly ran towards the dense woods with Ash following behind him in the skys.
