chapter seventy five

We did the spell but it did not work, Ash’s mother is a lot stronger we thought. We only have three days to come up with a plan B on saving Ash and hopefully get rid of her mother for good. 

The next day, Jaff stayed by Ash’s side as she layed on the bed, unconscious from exhaustion and pain. Her breath was ragged as she exhaled and sweat ran down her face as she slowly inhaled deeply in pain.Jaff slowly woke up to the sound of Ash’s voice as she spoke in her sleep.

Ash said in a low whispered voice, “Jaff.”

In an instant Jaff got up from sitting on a wooden chair and placed his hand onto Ash’s forehead. Jaff slowly realized that Ash was running a small fever and her forehead was hot to the touch. Ash slowly breathed heavily and started to grow heavier by the minute to the point that Jaff was shallow for a moment. 

Jaff slowly asked, “Shh, I am here Ash. Can you hear me?”

Ash said with her eyes still shut, “I…Can…hear you.”

She passed out in an instant as Electro came into the room with a concerned look on his face. He quickly saw that Ash was sound asleep and sighed in relief as he walked over to the  end of the bed .

Electro asked in concern as he tried to hide, “How is she doing?”

Jaff slowly replied, “She just fell back asleep.” He then stayed silent for the longest moment and after a few minutes he continued, “I don’t know if she is going to make it through the next two days Electro. I am worried she won’t make it through today either.”

Electro sighed as he said in a reassuring voice, “We will just have to wait and see Jaff for now. We will take shifts tonight so we can keep an eye on her, don’t worry too much Jaff. Ash is stronger then she looks, she has been through a lot and more then a child should ever go through at that age. We just have to wait how she will do tomorrow.”

“Alright, if she wakes up I want you to come and get me alright.” Jaff said in a defeated voice.

Elector smiled as he asked, “Hey Jaff, can I ask you something?”

“You already asked me a question.” Jaff said with a chuckle as he smiled with laughter.

Electro said in annoyance, “Ha, ha. Very funny.”

Jaff smiled as he said “Yes, you can ask me another question, what do you want to ask me?”

“Do you… How should I put this embarrassing you? Screw it, I’ll go on ahead and ask you. Are you in love with Ash by any chance?” Electro asked.

Jaff immediately choked on his own saliva in surprise from the question that came out of nowhere. After a few minutes coughing to clear his throat, he breathed deeply so he could breathe some air into his lungs.

Jaff asked in surprise and with a slightly sore throat, “Where did that come from, haven't we had this conversation before?”

Electro replied, “No we have not had this conversation before. I’ve noticed that you have been warming up to her and you seem happy every time you are near her but when you aren't, you seem sad or angry.”

Jaff sighed as he asked “Is it that easy to see?”

Electro immediately nodded his head yes for a moment and said “I think there are a lot of people who noticed it Jaff. There are some people that have brains you know, now go get some sleep, you look like you need it Jaff.”

Jaff quickly got up from the ground and said “Thanks Electro, wake me up when you start to get tired.”

Electro smiled as he said “Sure Jaff, now go on and get some sleep.”

Jaff smiled as he walked towards the door and exited the room in an instant while shutting the door behind him. He quickly went into his room silently while shutting the door behind him and slid to the ground as he leaned against the door. Once he was sitting on the ground, Jaff pulled his legs towards his chest as he started to cry from the sadness and fear of what might happen to Ash. Jaff quickly closed his eyes as tears started to stream down his face and he slowly fell asleep after three hours of crying.
