Meredith ran towards the locker room feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and ashamed. Luckily it was empty and she said down on the bench and put her head in her hands. She didn't know how it could happen that they brought her mother to Seattle Grace. Her mothers written instructions were specifically to take her to Mercy West if there were any problems. She just wanted to cry and go home. She didn't know how she was going to face any of them again. Now they knew she was just a big fat liar.

Dr. Bailey started barking out orders to Addison and Burke and paged another resident to deal with Ellis Grey and monitor Addison and Burke. Dr. Bailey told Mark, Derek and Cristina to follow her. She didn't know what to expect from Meredith. She might need all her friends.

They went to the locker room solemnly and could see through the glass that Meredith was sitting on the bench. Dr. Bailey opened the door and blocked the others from entering.

Derek asked, "Meredith. Are you okay?"

Dr. Bailey placed her hand over Derek's mouth and said, "Just zip."

Cristina said, "Hey Meredith. You know um..my great grandmother. She died with Alzheimer's."

Mark hissed out, "My God. Why would you say that?"

Cristina replied, "Look. I'm just trying to help."

Dr. Bailey said to Mark and Cristina, "Okay. I think we have it here. You two. Go back to the patient and assist Burke and Montgomery."

Cristina said, "I think I need to talk to Meredith."

"Okay. I'm sorry. I thought that I was your resident not your hostess. I assign. You take. IS that a problem?"

Cristina and Mark frowned and walked away.

Dr. Bailey watched Meredith take deep calming breaths and said to Derek, "Dr. Shepherd. Go take care of Dr. Grey."

Derek said, "Yes. Thank you. She needs a friend right now." Derek went to move around Dr. Bailey into the locker room."

Dr. Bailey stuck her arm out and said, "The other Dr. Grey. I have this under control."

Derek said, "Oh you mean Ellis. The mother."

Derek reluctantly walked down the hall. All he knew was the he wanted to be there for Meredith. He couldn't believe she hadn't ever said anything. She must be overwhelmed with the burden.

Dr. Bailey stepped into the locker room and said, "Dr. Grey?"

Meredith jumped up at the sound and opened her locker like she was looking for something.

"Are you able to work today?"

"Yes. I am fine."

"Because I would understand if you want to be with you're.."

"No. My mother and I don't have the easiest.....It's just better if I'm working."

"Okay. You are on scut."

"Excuse Me?"

"While we take care of your mother, you can catch up on charting, run samples to the lab and go over..."

Meredith interrupted and said sharply, "I'm fine!"

"Yeah. And I so appreciate that you are fine, but I have to anticipate a certain level of distraction from you today. Even in the face of all that fineness. So scut now! Did you get the chart I asked for?"

Meredith thrusts Mrs. Drakes chart into her hands.

Meredith stalked out of the locker room while Bailey sighed. Meredith went directly to where she thought they had taken her mother and silently went into the room and took the chart from the surprised resident's hand. She said, "I'll bring it back in ten minutes."
