After breakfast Mark had gone back upstairs to change and Derek and Meredith were cleaning up.

"So what is on your agenda today?"

"Go see my mother and some errands."

"I can do errands. Why don't we do our stuff together?"

"Really? You're ready for another round with my mother?"

"I think she is starting to like me. Yesterday, she thought I was her boss for awhile."

"Well, today she will probably think you are her intern again. I thought you were going to drive Mark to the airport?"

"I am. We can drop him off and then see your mother and then do errands."

"Um..okay. What time do I need to be ready tonight?"

"Our reservation is at seven."

"Reservation? I though we were just going out to a casual dinner?"

Derek caressed her cheek with the back of his hand. "Meredith. This is our first date. I want to show you off. Besides, we only have one day off and we need some fun."

Meredith leaned into his hand and said, "Um...I am not sure I have anything to wear. Is this a fancy place?"

"Moderately. Why not wear that black dress you had on the first night we met?"

Meredith giggled and said, "Because it's in a ball in the back of my closet. I forgot about it until just now. It needs to be dry cleaned."

Derek ran his fingers along her jaw and said seductively, "I'm sure you have something else. A dress or skirt would be nice. I don't think I've seen your legs since that night a few months ago."

Meredith frowned a little thinking how pale her legs were. But all thoughts left her head when Derek started nibbling on her clavicle. She moaned slightly and he chuckled and said, "Um...Mer....when you moan, you don't know what that does to me."

They both pulled away when they heard Mark clunking a suitcase down the stairs. He had learned his lesson. And he wasn't wearing a cow bell!

Derek stepped out into the hall and looked at Meredith's closed door. He rubbed his face to make sure it was smooth. He had shaved twice. He'd wait downstairs for her. If he paced the upstairs hallway, she would think he was stalking her.

Meredith took one last look in the mirror. She had tried on different things but nothing looked right. This one looked the best. It was a chocolate brown jersey dress that hugged her curves. It had long sleeves and fell just above the knee. It had a narrow long cut out that exposed her cleavage without being too revealing. She slipped on heels and walked downstairs. He was waiting for her in the hallway.

He looked up as she walked down and smiled. She was beautiful with her hair down and in long waves. She was wearing a dress that clung to her voluptuous curves perfectly. He had almost forgotten how long and shapely her legs were. He hadn't seen them in months. He gave her a leisurely kiss and lightly ran his finger predatory like down her cleavage.

He said reverently, "You look beautiful Meredith."

Her eyes gleamed and she said seriously, "So do you."

He took her hand and led her out the door before he ripped her clothes off then and there.

Derek opened the door to one of Seattle's best restaurants and put his hand on the small of Meredith's back. They walked up to the hostess stand and a beautiful blonde smiled brightly at them.

She said, "Oh hi there. I remember you. Derek right?"

Meredith raised an eyebrow and Derek said, "Yeah. I'm sorry. Do I know you?"

She laughed and said, "Well, I probably look a little different than the last time you saw me."

Meredith frowned and was getting bad, bad images in her head. Was this one of Derek's one night stands?

Derek said flustered, "I'm sorry but I don't remember." Fuck he thought. Was this one of his one night stands?

"I'll give you a hint. I was covered in flour."

Derek laughed and said, "Of course. Isobel's Bakery. Um..yes you do look different."

Izzie glanced at the tiny woman frowning at her. She stuck her hand out and said, "I'm Isobel Stevens, but everyone calls me Izzie. I own Isobel's Bakery where your chocolate cake came from. He must have really been a dog to have to have me put I'm sorry on your cake!"

Meredith took her hand relived and said, "I'm Meredith Grey. Nice to meet you. That was the best chocolate cake I have ever had."

"Thanks. I was kinda disappointed you never came back." She lightly chastised Derek.

Derek said, "We're surgical interns. We have no life. The hospital owns us. But we'll be back. I promise."

Izzie laughed and asked, "So Derek, you have a last name?"

"Shepherd. We have a reservation for seven."

Izzie said, "You requested the table in front of the fire place. Another couple is just finishing coffee. I'm sorry, but it's not going to be ready for about another ten minutes."

Derek said, "That's not a problem."

Izzie walked out from the hostess stand and said, "Come with me into the bar. I'll come get you when it's ready."

Derek and Meredith sat at a small table and Izzie told the bartender that the drinks were on the house.

Derek said, "Really Izzie. That's not necessary."

Izzie whispered, "Management authorizes it when we can't honor a reservation to the minute. Besides, the drinks in here are greatly overpriced."

Meredith said, "Thank you Izzie."

She winked at them both and walked back to her position.

Their drinks came quickly and Meredith asked incredulously, "So Derek. How is it possible you don't remember her? She's beautiful. She could be a model with that face and that body."

"Well, let's see. When I saw her she was wearing an apron from head to toe. She had a hairnet on and she was covered in flour. Besides, I was thinking about you, not even looking at other woman."

Derek sipped his wine and was content to just stare at her. He had been waiting for this night for so long.

Meredith sipped her wine and took in Derek. She never once thought she would actually be on a date with the most handsome man she had ever laid eyes on.

Their spell was broken when Meredith's cell phone beeped with a voice mail. She was tempted not to look at it, but it could be about her mother. She sighed and opened up her purse. Then Derek's cell phone beeped. He wouldn't have even taken his, but thought just in case something with Nancy came up, he should be available.

Meredith listened and said, "911?"

Derek did the same. "911? Stay here and finish your wine. I'll just go out in the lobby and call and see what they have. I mean we are not on call."

Meredith said, "Okay" She had a bad feeling.

Derek came back quickly and said, "I'm sorry Meredith. There is a massive commuter train wreck outside of Seattle. Dr. Bailey said all hands on deck. They have multiple casualties and hundreds of injuries. They really need us."

Meredith quickly stood up and Derek threw some money on the table. They ran out of the restaurant.
