Cristina walked up and said sarcastically, "You just got McDreamed in the hall didn't you?"

Meredith doesn't say anything and Cristina waves her hand in front of her face. "Mer. Mer?....Meredith Grey!"

Meredith snaps out of it and notices Cristina. Meredith says, "Ugh...what?"

Cristina laughs and says, "You are standing in the middle of the hall with the most terrified look on your face and you are almost speechless and you have no situational awareness."

Meredith said in a monotone, "Cris. He is making future plans like I am a normal girl. I'm not. I am scary and damaged and he has no idea the extent. I love him. I do. But I don't want to drag him down into my dark and twisty world. I should just.....I should.."

Cristina says forcefully, "Coward!"

Meredith asked "What did you say?"

"I called you a coward."

"You're calling me a coward?"

"Yeap."

Meredith frowned and said, "I have to end it. I definitely have to end it. I have to end it. Right?"

"Meredith. Shut up!"

"What? Did you seriously just tell me to shut up?"

Cristina says, "Oh please. You've got a hot doctor who loves you and you likes to make you open up and say, ahh... It's the American dream. You are being a coward. Stop whining about it!"

Meredith scoffed and said, "This from a girl who refuses to go out on dates and has sex in on call rooms so that she doesn't miss a surgery!"

They walked down the hall together and Cristina said softy, "I almost went out on a date."

"What?"

"Don't change the subject. We are talking about you and Shepherd. I wasn't his biggest fan at first but everyone can see how much he loves you Mer. Don't be afraid. He isn't going to hurt you."

Meredith sighed and said, "You're right. I just....I have so much to lose now. If I lose him, I'm not sure I would survive."

"You're not going to lose him. Besides, you're strong. Stronger than you give yourself credit for. Not as strong as me, but strong." Cristina smirked.

Meredith asked, "So tell me about the almost date?"

Cristina said, "He showed up late and drunk in a tux."

Meredith laughed and said, "What did you do?"

"Um....it was interesting. No sex obviously."

Meredith raised an eyebrow, "And whatcha been doing in the on call rooms?"

Cristina blushed a little and said, "Would you believe sleeping?"

Meredith asked disbelievingly, "No sex?"

Cristina said, "Nope. It's almost Victorian! But we have another date later this week."

They reached the nurses station and Meredith took a deep breath and said, "I'm strong. I can do this. I am strong."

Cristina said, "Damn straight! My person isn't a coward. My person is strong!"

Meredith laughed and said, "Thank you Cris. I needed that. I appreciate it."

Cristina grumbled as she turned to walk down the hall, "You're welcome. I will kick your ass up the aisle if I have to!"

Meredith spun around and yelled after her, "What did you say?" She heard the nurses laughing.
