On their one off day, Derek and Meredith had gone over to Bainbridge Island to check out the property he was interested in. The owner, Mr. Mason, had given them directions for the parcel that Derek had seen in the aerial shot. They were almost there with Doc hanging out the window. Derek stopped the car as the road came to a dead end. They all got out.

Meredith was nervous when Doc took off immediately.

"Crap Derek! What if he gets lost or something?"

"Mr. Mason said he doesn't ever leash him. And he stays close. He'll be back. Besides I think he loves you. Why does he like to almost knock you down and slather you with licks?"

Meredith giggled.[i] Doc was very unruly.[/i]

Derek smirked and said, "Oh I know. He's a male. He wants to be on top of you just like me and lick you to death! Hell. He weighs more than you do."

"Derek!"

He took her hand and said, "Come on love. There is the marker he told us about. It's this way. Watch your step."

They walked through the majestic woods for about twenty minutes with Doc finding them and then running ahead. It was like the dog was leading the way. They passed streams and listened to the sounds of nature. They came into a large clearing and stopped in their tracks as Doc barked excitedly and ran around them in big circles.

Meredith whispered, "Oh my God Derek. It's beautiful."

"Jesus! Look at that view!" He took her hand and that walked closer to the cliff. They both looked at the magnificent vista. They were both enthralled and then Doc dropped a big stick on Derek's foot.

Derek laughed and picked up the stick and threw it as he watched Doc run after it.

"Well. This is it Meredith. This is the parcel I want. What do you think?"

"It's perfect Derek. It's so peaceful and calm here. It's hard to believe we are so close to Seattle."

Derek turned to her and cupped her face with both hands. "A quick ferry ride away. Could you see a house here eventually Meredith? A house for you and me?"

Meredith smiled and quickly nodded her head.[i] Not so many months ago, she would have run off and taken a flying leap off that cliff to get away. But with Derek, he made everything so easy. Simple even. She loved him so much.[/i]

He kissed her gently and she wrapped her arms around his neck. He nibbled on her lower lip and she moaned. Doc dropped a bigger stick on their feet.

She laughed as she picked it up and threw it as far as she could.

Derek said, "You throw like a girl."

"In case you haven't noticed, I am a girl."

Derek smirked and said, "Oh honey. I've noticed! Come on. We should get back. We have a lot to do on this one day off."

As they headed back into the woods, they went a slightly different way. Derek wanted to see the small lake that Mr. Mason had told him about. Soon enough they were coming into another clearing and there was a small pristine clear lake.

Meredith said stunned, "It's breathtaking."

Derek said, "Wow!"

Meredith asked, "Can you imagine the mist coming off of it in the morning?"

Derek shook his head momentarily speechless.

"Is this on your parcel of land too?"

"Unfortunately not. Close but not within the ten acres."
