Derek and Meredith run into the ER and see Dr. Bailey and Chief Webber shouting orders. They run up to her and Derek says, "We're here. Where do you want us?"

Dr. Bailey glanced at them relieved and than asked, "Have you two been drinking?"

Derek said, "About half a glass of wine."

Dr. Bailey looked at Dr. Grey who was out of scrubs and realized[i] how truly tiny she was. She tried to calculate how the alcohol would metabolize in some one so small. [/i]

"How may ounces?"

Meredith said, "Three. Three ounces at the most."

"Okay. Get changed and get your butt's back down here ASAP!"

Meredith took off her shoes and they both ran for the locker room.

They were in the hallway with Dr. Bailey waiting for her orders. Cristina walked up in her scrubs and said, "Hello. I seem to be a little bit drunk. I was off duty."

Dr. Bailey yelled, "So was I!"

She looked at the group of interns that had responded. [i] There were about fifteen of them.[/i] "Anybody else half in the bottle?"

They all shook their heads.

Dr. Bailey said, "All right then. Yang just stay out of the way. I'll deal with you later. The rest of you stick with me and wait for your assignments. Now you get all aquiver at the sight of blood and organs but it's gonna be a long night and you already tired. I don't want any mistakes."

They walk into the pit and look around astounded. There is blood everywhere and paramedics are walking around with limbs. Meredith blinks [i]and see's two people on a gurney together with a metal pole sticking through their abdomens. [/i]

Dr. Bailey says to Cristina, "Go. Go get yourself a banana bag IV and put it in your arm and then find me. Do not speak to patients and do not practice any medicine."

Cristina whined, "Well, should I just go home?"

"Well, unless you drank the whole liquor bottle, you'll be sober in a few hours. And the IV fluids will head off your hangover. Then you can assist with the many mangled victims you see spread out before you. Besides, if I'm not going home, nobody is going home!"

Dr. Bailey looked at the group of interns.[i] She'd put the two best of the pole people. [/i]"Shepherd and Grey. Move them gently upstairs."

"Look at this. These people are still alive?"

"They are making small talk."

Dr. Bailey said, "The pole is plugging the wound as far as we can see."

"It's hitting the aorta."

"And look at him. It's right in line with his inferior vena cava."

Dr. Bailey asked, "Is there any way to operate without separating them."

The attendings shake their heads no.

Dr. Bailey says, "We could remove the poll."

One of the attendings says, "They'll both bleed out."

Meredith asks, "What is you don't move the poll? What if you move one of the patients off the poll and get the saw in there. Then you can hold the pole steady in the other one. Move it very slowly and repair the damage as you go."
